  • They

All sound good in their own right, but lets be honest. That Ferrari is using modern day technology to tune that exhaust to get that sound, whereas the muscle cars of the 70's just had standard mufflers on them and still produced such a great sound. You cant really compare them.

    • exactly

And the engine design between the american and european v8's are different, The American motors have a longer stroke and a larger bore, giving them more displacement, which doesn't allow them to rotate nearly as fast, thats how they get the deaper sound. The European v8's have smaller pistons that have a smaller stroke, allowing them to turn much faster than the american, which gives them a higher pitched noise, (and tuning of the exhaust does dramatically help)

    • They lost WHAT war?

What war did they loose exactly?
Seem to remember WW2 being won by the allies (even believe D-day was launched from UK...?)
Anyway, how's Ford doing these days?
      ;-)

    • No he doesnt!

Clarkson bought a Ford GT for Christ sake he just hates how Americans think the more HP you got the better the car. A TRUE sports car has HP, Handling, Drive ability, Braking, and ergonomics. And most European V8's will stomp an American V8? Why because they are smaller (lighter), more efficient (better mpg), and more Technologically advanced.

  • Interesting

That most after-market kit car builders and independent sports car makers in America AND Europe buy American V8's (usually a Chevy). Why? They are cheap, reliable, and produce tons of power. Do NOT get me started on most of the crap engines that come out of Europe. It's a running gag in auto service circles that most Euro cars never change the oil, they just replace what leaks out.
Bash the "only good in a straight line" American all you want, but when a 70G corvette can run circles around a 250G Ferrari, the arguments start sounding stale and old.

    • Your smoking Crack

Seriously you think a Covette that handles like a boat designed by a bunch of idiot monkies can "actually turn in a circle" without losing its back end. Go and "actually" drive a Ferrari, not just in a straight line but on a narrow twisting road, then go drive a corvette, the difference in handling is like comparing a fine wine to coca-cola.
