Clip done in B.C. Canada. A cool way to check plates for violations.

  • Caught on Video!

Do they have speeding & seatbelt laws in BC?
I think that Sgt. Rick Stewart should be given fines for both speeding & for not wearing his seatbelt. It appears he was driving 100 km in a 60 km zone (Watch the video close & you’ll see both).
The system he is describing is great!

  • Looks great, and because of that I'm pro...

It could be great and seriously my first thought was that we should get that here (Australia). My second thought is that it could be misused. I'm not accusing anyone of any wrong motives or anything at all, I just want people to be aware of the possibilities so that they can make sure laws don't get passed to allow the government to use this in a bad way. How could it be used badly?

If these are set up everywhere the government could track every movement of your car. Not a bad thing in itself, but there is privacy to think of. Further down that road access could be restriced. This road goes as far as you are willing to think about it.

I am not against these systems. They seem a great way to stop criminals. But we do need to be aware that there is a slope, despite the fact that it might not be all that slippery. Just because something can be used in a bad way does not mean we should ban it, rather we, the people, should be aware of how the government is using them and of any attempts to give the government more power than they should have. If the government and the people within it were perfect we would be able to give them complete power and control, however they are not so there must be a balance.

I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who said, "The price for freedom is eternal vigilance."

    • Big Brother is watching.

there are cameras at almost every intersection in my city.... all they would have to do is plug the ANPR into the cameras (if they already haven't). they wouldn't even need to patroll.. they would just respond....
