Writing Contests and writing competitions exist for all genres of writing. The Writers of the Future writing contest however is unique in that it accepts entries of speculative fiction only and judges all entries once every quarter using a blind judging process. The judges are a veritable whos who in the field of science fiction and fantasy and include such authors as Orson Scott Card, Anne McCaffrey, Robert J. Sawyer, Tim Powers, Jerry Pournelle, Kevin J. Anderson, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Sean Williams, K. D. Wentworth, Doug Beason, Gregory Benford, Larry Niven, Frederik Pohl, Rebecca Moesta, Brian Herbert, Eric Kotani, Robert Silverberg and Dave Wolverton. The success of this contest is awesome. Many new writers have emerged over the last 25 years of Writers of the Future and many more illustrators have found success after winning the companion contest, Illustrators of the Future.
