  • Zip Passwords are usually longer than 12...

    Most people that would attempt to use this type of program would be using it because they download warez that had a password on the zip files.

    Most sites that host these types of files have a site url or something similar as the password.

    Since most of these sites have extremely long urls with usually quite a few leet speak spellings, you'd have to have an extremely complex dictionary file to be able to crack the password using the dictionary method.

    As far as the brute force method goes, chances are it would take so long to break the password, that by the time it was finished, your computer would probably be obsolete and the file you had wanted to crack will have updated in versions 10 times.

  • Not as easy as it looks

    Why try to crack a zip password for something you can get somewhere else?.... and learn from your hacks and cracks expeditions i.e. start building your own dictionary for the password cracking program from passwords used on other zipfiles that you have downloaded. Add any passwords that you come across on the net or on any pc to this dictionary file. You will find that after two or so months you can use this dictionary with almost any cracking tool.

      i have a zip file and i already use brute force to find the pass (6 characters letters), but no success. I think that the pass use more than 6 characters and use all type of characters...and when i use my program (other similar program to find pass on zip files too) the time estimate is around 10 years! unbelievable!!!
      So i think that its good idea use dict method i get the file on warez or other similar place!
      But where i can find a dictionary? and this software can be used with a dict?

    only feasible for zip files that have very simple passwords, i tried it with a zip file that has a password that is 12 characters long with Upper and lower case letters and numbers and the estimated time was 300000000 days :)

      80% passwords are 6-8 letter passwords, as such 80% of problem is taken care of, for remaining passwords, if u have powerful processor and at least one GB ram, it would help.
