I agree with you to a point. We don't have a choice but to use the police. We also don't have a choice when the cop is crooked. And there is plenty of that in this day and age. While divorcing a few years ago, I was falsely convicted TWICE for criminal domestic vioence. I guess the fact that she was dating a sheriff's deputy (if you want to call THAT dating) had nothing to do with it. She stood in court and admitted that she threatened me, started the arguement, and that I never hit her. HUH? Yes, they will convict you if a woman "feels" afraid.
My crime? I told her "If you touch me after I go to sleep, I will ring your &^% neck." Of course it didn't matter to the cops or the female magistrate that she had was screaming at the top of her lungs that she was going to shoot me when I went to bed. No, the magistrate didn't think I felt threatened. My only real crime was not packing my bags and leaving long before. But you know, you try to do what's best for your kids.
And for info's sake, I moved to the neighboring state, have a great relationship with the local cops, (several friends) and she wound up marrying a crackhead convicted of sex offenses. And I got my kids. Thank you God.
There are great and horrible cops everywhere. Just like people.

I almost forgot, NO I DID NOT HIT HER. Though I was pelted several times with plates of food, ect.... Lot's of "modern" women have learned how to abuse the legal system.

to you. got my 3 after it all too. Now they are raised, and some new laws implace, but still your guilty if your a man. period.

the officers that serve the cities in this great country of ours have a hugh responsibilities to the citizens... Its a shame so many abuse there authority...

If they applied this across the US, Im sure that most police wouldnt be so tazer happy, they all got one shot, there have been instances of multiple application of tazer to many a person in the real world.

Our hatred of the police force stems from the brutality and abuse of authority they have demonstrated throughout the modern era. LAPD, for example, is the most-hated police department in the whole country. Even some newly-graduated policemen refuse working for LAPD because of its dark profile. I know that we shouldn’t hate the entire force because of a few bad apples; but, carelessness, brutality, usage of excessive power is something they’re all guilty of.

P.S. In case of crime and trouble, I call the police because I have no other option (for now, at least.)

there are a few bad apples in the bunch - but then, isn't that true of every profession? I cannot comment on the LAPD and Australia does have it's share of "crooked" cops but again it's a minority thing to the majority of good.

When you hear about someone getting shot by police in Australia, it is always in Melbourne. I hope the knives used in this video were made of rubber!

Is Metacafe, in anyway, partly or fully, run by Australians? Recently I've been reading their comments repeatedly (I don't think it is coincidence.) I am still pretty sure the majority of MetaCafe faithfull surfers are from US.

I am not a member of the police force, but, I think they deserve all the respect in the world. Most times they are dealing with the"dregs" of society who never learned right from wrong. If you're going to act like an animal then you should be restrained like one.

None of the ones who are putting down cops would hesitate to call one if they needed help. It's terrible that there may be many corrupt cops and this is why some have a negative attitude toward them, but there are many many other cops who are not corrupt and there is or will be a time when we need one and we are glad they are there.

They have to go through so much trianing, as this video shows. They also have to be sprayed with pepper spray or stand in a room with pepper spray in it, so that they know what it's like. How many of you would do either? I doubt any.

So give cops a break. Sure be careful of corrupt ones, but many that you meet are there to help.

Over here we have to train by walking through a cloud of CS gas, at a weakened strength from what we will be issued, and I can tell you now, that stuff hurts! Your eyes just close automatically, and it's stings like nobody's business...

By the way, I volunteer as a Constable, so I get paid nothing for it, and I'll tell you now I've met some of the most genuine people I have ever met in my life working for the police. Yes there are some bad apples (none that I have come across yet), but they are greatly in the minority... They have to do an extremely tough job every single day, and don't get paid the money they deserve to be paid for what they have to put up with. I have total and utter faith in our police force.

i think the ideea is to see exactly how much power have the weopens they use in order to know how much they can relay on it... not to make them use less pain on suspects.. i bet you anything that if u are police in a crises you would use a nuke on suspect if you could go out alive
