Some basic moves of Capoeira...
I cannot say that this moves are very good. Ginga has small mistake - in going back you cannot let your forward feet move - if you get kicked, you have to keep balance. Other moves are to slow; i think that the very good way to learn capoeira is to learn first sequnces of mestre bimba - the "father" of capoeira regional.
I can understand, that for people, who practice karate, kung fu or other east fighting styles capoeira looks like dancing monkey or smth. But for me (i practice for 1 year) capoeira became not only a style to fight on the street, but to make my body stronger and like a gum. My friend was practicing many other things (judo etc.), but he was suprised that in one second of his deconcentration i can jump to cut his legs and left him lying on the floor.
And last but not least - capoeira it's an art of evasion.
nobody can make a change in the Capoeira movementsnames, so before make some video like this, this person shold to know at liste how is the realy nmae of MEIA LUA OR MEIA LUA DE COMPASSO, and finaly to make a Escorpiao at preference ge bofore one Parada de cabeca, and if you or not able to do it than let it...
By capoeiradoktor 1206880197i heard it in capoeria fighters 2 , this video, and a whole buncha other capoeria videos, is it some sort of traditional capoeria music or somthin?
By gokuryudrago 1184011201Pretty nice kid, I bet you thought u were cool and logical, but sory capoeira is no little dance. It is probably the most effective and deadly martial arts form you'll find. It's is unpredictable and extremely dangerous. Although you may see some capoeira videos with them only doing flips and all the little kicks that they do throw can actually kill you. So after you read a little bit more about capoeira then you can say something....
...Checkmate...
...Checkmate....
i tot the vid was quite good actually..
good for beginners like me..
again mate, hats off
elinize sağlık arkadaşlar capoeira yı Türkiye'de daha çok şehirde grmek dileğiyle
By Trprincipe 1173860882i have to object to this being martial arts. Martial arts are systems of codified practices and traditions of training for combat. thats pretty much the definition. i have seen more combat related movements in my little sisters hip-hop dance class. so lets see capoeira for what it really is. a cute dance.
...you just got served....
Although it is not one of the martial arts that I have practiced (I've done Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kick boxing and the best of them, Thai Boxing) it is a very visually impressive, physically demanding, skillful and effective art. Why else would it be having such success in cage fighting tournaments?
It was developed in secrecy and the dance element was created to provide cover in case they were being spied on by officials who made martial arts illegal in Brazil.
In future you may wish to think before you write.
S**ts me to tears every time some plonker comes out saying thats its some sort of martial art, its nothing more than a gymnastic dance routine. Whilst no one doubts the skill or athleticism required to do it to say its effective as a MA is just utter bollocks. You dont see Fedor jumping around like a friggin gibbon doing this S**t Cage fighting indeed
By Ptah 1168255128Pete the Arse Hole?
By no means is it a complete system dick wad but it has its benefits over some other MA's due to the shifting centre of gravity and unexpected strike positions you complete nob rot. Used in conjunction with more common MA's it can be a great advantage S**t for brains. The whole point of this was to practice outlawed martial arts by making it look like a dance you ignorant rectal remnant.
I put the regular insults in to keep your attention so you might learn something.
Capoeira (IPA: [ka.puˈej.ɾÉ]) is a Brazilian martial art practiced by enslaved Africans in Brazil starting in the 1500s. It has been argued that capoeira was created in Africa, and that it was originated by Nigerian or Angolan ethnic groups where members fought with music and the winner won a partner, usually female. Participants form a roda (circle) and take turns playing. instruments, singing, and sparring in pairs in the centre of the circle. The game is marked by fluid acrobatic play, feints, subterfuge, and extensive use of groundwork, as well as sweeps, kicks, and headbutts. Technique and strategy are the key elements to playing a good game. (thats from wikkipedia if you care to learn something)
that sound more like a night at the pub using the ''Ginga'' to impress the ladies. cage fighting? dont be a fool........
And WHY was it outlawed? Was it because all the oppressed black slaves were rising up? kicking the A$$es of their nasty Portugese colonialist masters? FAT CHANCE....After slavery was abolished in 1888, the freed people moved to the cities of Brazil and with no employment to be found, many joined or formed criminal gangs. They continued to practice capoeira, and it became associated with anti-government or criminal activities. As a result, capoeira was outlawed in Brazil in 1890.
so... basicly that has alot to do with Dancing to get some pu$$y and sweet Fuckall to do with Combat. you might benifit form reading a book or actually practicing a Martial Art some day Danj69.
...You just got F'd in the A.....

Obviously it is glamourised for a movie but you will see the potential for a deadly art (that is if you have any intelligence at all)
yeah ok youre right Dan the MA Man. I was wrong , some glamorised crap in a movie showed you to be the MA understudy of the century.
Oops sorry that should read Dan the MENSA MA man , being the MA intellectual of Metacafe.
I'm choosing to interpret your previous comment as a genuine statement and not sarcasm, makes me feel better that way ;-)
By Danj69 1168348300"And WHY was it outlawed? Was it because all the oppressed black slaves were rising up? kicking the A$$es of their nasty Portugese colonialist masters?" Sounds like they were pretty tough in this sentence.
"so... basicly that has alot to do with Dancing to get some pu$$y and sweet Fuckall to do with Combat" Contradict yourself much?
I've been doing Thai boxing on and off for almost 10 years which has a heavy emphasis on the dance ritual (the Ram Muay) yet I doubt anyone would say it isn't one of the toughest (if not the toughest) MA's out there.
I also read that segment in Wiki' but unlike you I have studied this and other MA's before so have a wider knowledge base than some mouthy ignorant moron.
but still fails miserabley. Give it up Dan The MA Man. Dont know what history books youve been reading . Didnt really do them any good did it. ?Portugese would have probably shot the pricks , lets see ya change ya centre of gravity with a lump of lead between the eyes. Whilst Im not a dyed in the wool K1 or pride etc etc fan. Id like you tell me how many of the best of them use Capoeira? How many Special Services regiments , being trained in un armed combat have trained Capoeria? None I F**king bet
Lastly Dan The MA Man, your pathetic insults just show you up to be the most ingnorant of then all. Maybe you should shut the F**k up until you know your stuff..we're all going to be waiting a long time Dannyboy
Putting aside any comments about Capoeira in itself, this is a pretty poor video.
In the Ginga, his legs are way to crossed, and this puts his balance off, not to mention the arms are supposed to come in front of the face as protection.
Esquiva (Regional style), he should bend the legs more to lower the body ... you're evading the blow, now giving your knees as a target.
Queixada, you don't turn your back to your opponent, that's just inviting the blow that you can't see.
Martelo badly executed, didn't twist the body.
The rest was okay, but not brilliant.
Sorry about the rant ...
