  • *Very educational*

more people should teach their babies this way, then there may not be so many drownings.

  • Good Idea

This is really cool. The earlier you can acclimate your child to the world it will have to live in, the better, provided that it can be done safely.

  • Not "Swimming"...

This is a SURVIVAL technique that allows a baby to have more of a chance. A danger of a pool is that a child associates water with mommy or daddy, pool toys and FUN. So when the child gets loose unsupervised, they go to the water to find the parents or toys.

  • You don't have to "learn" to s...

Humans, like any other creature, instinctively know how to swim. It's fear of the water that prevents many from trying.

  • cool

I saw on some show on the discovery channel about babies and swimming. There have been many psychological studies conducted on this topic. For the first months of a baby's life, they have an odd and natural ability to understand buoyancy and can often even swim on their own - completely under water. HOWEVER, after they have reached a certain point, they strangely FORGET how to do it and have to relearn later!!!

    • there is a theory for this

there is a theory that you never forget something, justr if you dont use a connection for a long time or dont make it propperly the connection is lost and you "forget" the thing so if you encourage a baby to swim and have it do it alot they can biuld the connectrions and remember for alot longer

  • What

a piece of rubbish.. All children that at that age can swim. That is: sticking their tounge out to prevent water from entering the mouth and hold their breath. Its actually a diving reflex witch we have left from our time as water-creatures. It's triggered when water reaches areas around your mouth and eyes and will even cause the metabolism of an adult to go slower (the ability to stay longer under water without breathing). And that "survival technique" wont do no good when the child actually falls in the water. How many kids have you seen falling that gently on their back into the water? haha.
