  Emirates is flown mainly in the Middle East, originating from Dubai. I think the max it goes is till Heathrow (UK). This was probably the first flight to Australia.

The A340-500 used to be worlds largest civil aircraft. You don't get to see them very often. The Emirates where the first to receive an A340-500 in December 2005 with a capacity of more than 300 passengers.With 4 extremely powerful Rolls-Royce Trent 500 turbofans the A340-500 wasn't only faster but also held the record in long haul flights. There is an A340-600 out now that will take over the less economic B747.
