how it works
It works because the lit flames use up the oxygen in the glass and the flame sucks air in which makes the egg get sucked in

- Actually, No
  Actually the egg is heated up. When its heated up, the atoms bounce around quickly, unlike a cold egg whose atoms would be perfectly still (thats why things get hard and turn to ice). The heated egg actually shrinks a bit and falls down. I did a similar science experiment in 6th grade using a metal ball and open circle.

  heated objects are actually...... expand .....not shrink .....haha ....and what do you mean by things get hard and turn to ice ....?? ....Benny was right 50% ....the flame use up oxygen inside the jar and create a vaccum that suck the egg in ....the flame is not hot enough to heat the egg for its atoms bounce ....

  Just read more about science, heating up stuff will make them expande not SHRINK, cause the energy from heat will result in fast movement of the lattice of whatever is heated, COOLING will make them shrink

  the fire of the matches uses the oxygen and creates low pressure. the air from the atmosphere pushes it in the bottle. i know this experiment from my physics book.

Getting the egg out!
You don't have to break the egg with a fork! Simply turn the bottle so the egg is blocking the opening and blow hard into the bottle. The pressure will push the egg back out!
