I can't imagine myself being in such a pinch that I couldn't just take the time that I would have spent taking apart the 9-Volt and go to the store for some new AAAs. Plus, if you're going to be prepared enough to carry around a 9-volt and a pair of needle nose pliers with you everywhere you go, why not just keep an extra pack of AAAs in your glove compartment, especially if the device you would need them for is potentially life-saving or whatnot? Just my opinion though...

AAA batts are still used on sets on many wireless mics. Ive seen it used for small transcevers for body packs on recent jobs I have worked on i.e. Aguilara tour, Mariah tour, American Idol finalies etc. In regards to MattGFresh's comment above, and I'm only speaking from a professional level , engineers on a music/concert tour are faced with challenges that have to be answered dead on. If an engineer is faced with needing more AAA batts and all they have are 9V's, having that knowlege will go from a potential 30 minute concert delay to a zero concert delay, saving more than 20 grand in facilities charges.

I work for Ever Ready, what I am telling you is factual..!
Most 9 volt batteries are of the layer type and are constructed of what look like small oval buttons cells and have only a thin polyethylene case to each cell and are held together under compression. Totally unusable when dismantled and the risk of chemical contamination to your hands if you start to play with such batteries.
No batteries contain lead these days, but they DO contain other hazardous chemicals that you wouldn't want in your mouth or eyes, or even just on your hands, so again be warned about this. Life is too expensive to risk it on a battery.

It is one big cell, 1.5vdc. Same voltage as all the other single cell batts (C;AA;AAA;AAAA). It has just the most life in mah (milliamphours) over the others.

Energizer may be like that but the other brand use different forms of 6 batteries...ı have once opened a 9v and it contains 6 rectengular small batteries...so if you want this 6 AAA you must buy Energizer or you have to examine the other brands first...

The piece sticking out was not positive as in most batteries.These batteries are almost the size of AAAA. i used some folded up reynolds wrap as a spacer (conductive) until i find a better solution. use meter to check or try them backwards.
