Despite fighting most of the night with a broken right hand and surviving a sixth round knockdown, Arturo Gatti rallied to score a commanding ten round unanimous decision over the valorous and vanquished Mickey Ward. Judge Joseph Pasquale scored it 96-93, Luis Rivera tallied 97-92, and George Hill had it 96-93, all of favor of Gatti.
