How To Create A Black And White Photo While Keeping Some Color

You may know what you are doing, but for those who don't, you are going way too fast and you missed a part. Why dont you explain why the choice of black is picked for painting? Why not explain that whit color erases?

I havnt seen your other tutorials, but you might consider not being so hasty and thinking like a newbie would. If you cant put yourself in a newbie's shoes, than why do the tutorial?

My way to do this colorizing is:
1) Select new adjustment layer>Hue/Saturation
2) Move your Saturation slider all the way to the left till its -100%
3) Go to Layers>select Layer Mask>Reveal All
4) Use Eraser with palette color BLACK to erase the layer to reveal color.
5) If you make a mistake, not to worry, change palette color to WHITE and begin to erase your mistake.
6) Flatten layers and save.
(If you want more colors to appear instead of all the black and white, you can slide the Opacity slider in layers to slowly reveal some colors, but that wont reduce the color intensity of what you already colored in. You'll have black and white, some original colors, and even some faded colors if you so choose.

Done!

All the instructions are in sequence with nothing left out.

You can also do this in Quick Mask which offers more choices of color changes.
