      you talk about.. listen, i have all my cards in a wallet that has a huge magnet to hold all my coins in place OUTSIDE the wallet and none, NONE of my credit cards nor debit card stopped working. the only thing hat gets de-magnetized is my monthly cheap plastic crappy metro/bus card. BUMMER!

      I just thought it's cool to see the magnet strips...

      Your card will not damage if you keep away from magnet... actually the magnet is absolutely not needed to do this trick, I just tried to demonstrate the "good" iron powder.

      The scotch tape protects the magnetic surface, so if you remove that, your card will be like before.

      And you need only a small amount of iron powder not as much as I used :) You can saw some steel or anything magnetisable metal too.

    A very powerful magnet, and to scrub it on the black bar. Then the card will not a work. Other ways, very few chances to affect it
