Firstly Sorry about the quality.
This is a short clip of a S2 Tracker being launched from an aircraft carrier straight into and then through a wave. Its incredible but the aircraft makes it through. But probibly both pilots have got brown flight suits

  • Again, I WAS THERE

    Not only did this plane fly through the wave, the pilot got it up in the air, turned it around and landed it on the angle deck. This plane did NOT wind up in the water. It had so many problems that it was never airworthy again, but the pilot, co-pilot and crew got off the plan on the deck of the carrier. Navy & Marine pilots are the best stick & rudder pilots in the world, they did NOT panic; they did follow procedures and got this bird back to the boat. I guarantee you the color of their flight suits did NOT change.

    Plane may have been flying at the end of the clip , but definatly would have had engine trouble , maby just floating on the sea , but I would have thought the stresses involved would tear the wings off. Clip dosnt go long enough to tell.

  • I was there.

    I was on board the USS Ticonderoga when this happened. The engines restarted and the pilot managed to get the plane up, dump fuel, and landed on the first pass. It was full of water and amazing that it flew
