How To Replace Hard Drive On Sony VAIO VGN-S260

Having only ever dealt with Acer laptops before was looking for some tips on upgrading the hard disk and without this video would not have got very far. With the Acer's it's two screws then pull out the tray with the HDD I could not believe how complicated this job was on a Sony so thank you very much for taking the time and effort to do the video it is much appreciated.

I bought a screen assbly from eBay and replaced my original. I couldn't have done it without watching your vid. Thanks again.

NOW...The replacement screen still shows the same yellowish tint and vertical lines across the lcd. Do you know anything about that? I know Sony LCd screens are notorious for going out. DId I buy a bogus screen or is another issue? Reply to rayzrsharp@gmail.com.

well that looks like a great vidio but i only can watch 4 :34 of it then it stops and i already know how to take all of the screws out just cant figure out how the top comes off it seem like in the very middle their is a screw we can not see of it has some kind of hard clip i didnt want to break it if the person who made this vidio has the orginal i would like to have cause i only can watch 4 minutes of it

Is there any way to break this laptop so that it is not repairable?? realisicaly.. nothing like blowing it up or shredding it.. something to do internaly.. please help!!

Helped me to open and refit the hard drive. Soni surely have tried to make it vert simple to dismantle the laptop!!

I could not in the end get the Laptop to recognise the new hard drive tried 3 times. Would like to look for a website that has the diagnostic and re assembly information.

Good video, but be sure to watch the whole thing before starting teardown as there are several mistakes. You don't have to remove the wireless tab either.
