you need glasses most likely because your eyes is straining too much..only 10% of people with bad eye sight have bad eye sight because of genes.. 90% of the time you are straining your eye muscles too often and this weakens your eyesight... you can actually improve your eyesight by tensing all of your muscles for 10 seconds and releasing them..this should trick your eyes into relaxing with the others..do that a couple times a day and you can improve your eyesight

posted ten months ago but, I am taking philosophy in college and the question that kipkay is bringing up is the same question constantly brought up. I think he is showing the greater possibility of Intelligent Design. The eyeball really couldn't have evolved because it is so complex that it couldn't have been adapted or a mutation.

that he is implying that only a god could create such a complex system as the human body, the eye was just one of many parts. just for the record i do not beleive in a god. you create your own destiny and choose your own paths.no mystical being, we are all organic. we come from the dirt and later we return to the dirt.

I believe that what we view as a screw up can actually be a positive thing for people. I know a few people who are colorblind and life is wonderful. Blindness? Look at Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles or Helen Keller.

Evolution can't account for the eye? This is foolishness. Look: earlier organisms develop photosensitive tissue, maybe only a few cells. They gain an advantage and prosper. The more complex the photosensitive tissue, the more useful it becomes, and the greater is the advantage of having. The greater the advantage, the more likely the organism is to reproduce (and in high numbers). Eventually all those with this increasingly complex photosensitive tissue are eliminated over millions and millions of years. We, and all other creatures with eyes, are the results. There are lizards alive today that have a single patch of photoreceptive cells on the top of their head; a rudimentary eye. This was one of the steps towards our very complex eyes. Read about the pineal organ.

People say that the eye is so complex that with out a single one of its many structures it wouldn't work.
But these people are thinking about it the wrong way, it just wouldnt carry out the same function.
If you think about it like a mouse or a rat trap. A trap has a few basic parts that when put together form the trap, it has the base, a spring a bar and a catch to stop the bar from activating.
If you remove the catch then it would loose all functionality as a trap, but it could make a very nice tie clip. If you remove the spring and the bar then you have a paper weight, do you catch my drift?

Also in regards to the big bang and being created by chance which is what I believe and I will tell you why. Every one looks at the big bang and assumes that it happened just the once and found it amazing that all the math is just right, if it exploded harder than matter wouldnt have formed therefore neither would we, if the explosion wasnt hard enough then the same thing. But it happened just right for us to survive and thrive on earth. But the way that I think of it is that there were many big bangs, there could have been billions of them and there could have been billions of universes before the current one that we live in was created.
We cant look into the universes of the past because they no longer exist so people assume that there was only the one and to make sence of it they created a mythical being called god or allah or what ever you believe in. Now I am not insinuating that I am smarter than you for seeing what you cannot because it was your ancestors 50000 years ago that came up with this idea and it has simply been passed on by customs and ways of life etc. I could go on but I have said pretty much all that l need to.

The Behe example is a good one, but there is one problem with your big bang theory: Where did all the supplies for the big bang come from. There are several needed parts such as hydrogen, carbon, electricity, etc.

Can you remember before you were born? Many theists have trouble accepting the idea that one day they wont exist, but never seem to address the fact that they haven't always existed.

I agree with the logics of your args but i have to say that eternal damnation is for some "people" (demons will have it also, and they were angels at first times). It's a common mistake to only look one side of what the christianity says as it's not only speaking as condemning people nor wishing them to be forced to believe. And in regards with your first argument, it's written in the bible "before you were into your mother, i knowed you". So this can give a clue that we already existed in a form that we do not remember in present days. But whatever it may be, we should not waist our time discussing this but acting nice one to the other. Don't you think so :) ?

are you able to respect the fact that there's people who believe in other gods or even in no god at all? can you live and work with - respectfully - people who are not the same church you are?

your experience and study about religions and especially the chatholic church has biased greatly. it is sad because men have screwed up religion and church so much that it is a negative thing now. please consider the concepts at the core not the religiosness on the outside. i hate all that religious s**t but i am still a christian. i suggest CS Lewis' "Mere Christianity." great book for believers and nonbelievers alike.

If Macro Evolution is the best answer for the facts, you still have to believe that Macro Evolution took place. As in science, data can be interperated diffrent ways, there maybe several explanations for evidence that is found. Some, I dare say, are ignoring this possibility. However, if you are starting with a preconcieved notion that Macro Evolution is true, your evidence will be interperated to fit the theory.

This is exactly where CHOICE interacts. If we admit he know everything, why doesn't he do everything fit his will ? It is a good thing we were, because then evolution would be a fact, because we saw it happen right? How did we find food if we were blind? Our knoes became acute to smell, but then why don't we have an acute sense of smell now? if i were to blind you would you be able to find food for yourself?

it is like a fairy tale. How can you say somthing happend billions of years ago? Were you there to see it happen. Or do you take people's word for it?
And that is assuming that the people were right about it when you took their word for it. Did a micro organism keep a journal? Does a fossil tell you how long it was buried or when it was buried? Do scientist know 100 percent about everything?
