This video describes one of the most advanced military aircrafts that are used in US army.
The aircraft was developed by Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing. It took over $3 billions of R&D costs and over 30 lives of testers. At the same time the aircraft is really unique. While being able to land and take-off as a helicopter from any dry spot on the land, at the same time Osprey is capable of transporting 24 people or 23 tons of cargo to 1600 km withought refuelling at speed of 476 km/h. Such a hybrid of a helicopter and cargo aircraft seems to be extremely efficient for military applications.

By xxpuppetxx 1170182158 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe Osprey fly daily around Amarillo, TX from the test facility there. They have proven to be very reliable. Any new aircraft is going to have failures in the development phase. If we did not have the courage to push forward Kitty Hawk would have no significant meaning, No one would know who Chuck Yeager was, and we surely would not have gone to the moon. The people who choose to be involved with this type of technology advancement know the risks. You should be proud that the human spirit is strong enough in some of us to take the risk.
By -Trigger- 1170095304 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSpend money on the next generation of CH-53's. The CV-22's only advantage is slightly better forward airspeed. Other than that, I see no advantages over a CH-53 Super Stallion. The CV-22 uses so many complex composite materials that repairs cannot even be done in the field. Beside the fact that the thing is a Marine killer. Scrap it!
By danozer 1169729735 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWe've been pumping zillions into this piece of pork for over 20 years...they just won't admit that it is not safe or efficient.
By imbubba 1170528350 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLike the guy before, your also a douche bag. Its obvious you dont work with the v-22 so you have no right saying the aircraft is not safe or efficient.
Im also sorry to hear you dont want to fly in it as your missing a great flight, but if you had the chance I wouldnt let ya because of your stupid attitude toward it. THE V-22 IS THE SAFEST AIRCRAFT IN THE SKY. If you only knew a little about how it works and its safety systems then you would understand. Dont assume S**t because of what you hear or read.
is this the next generation of chinhooks?
By g-koo 1169675021 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeim really not 100% but im sure the people were not real
By dr matt 1169666738 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe Army does not have this bird on contract, it is being developed for the Marine Corps.

By make love not war 1169199413 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeput 2 powered jet engine on it and your away
This craft should have stayed on the ground after the first test crashed ,and killed the crew, why waste so many more lives on bad design, usefull? HA! This is junk.
By Badboa 1169097046 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThink about this. If they had abandoned the Black Hawk projects after the first 5 pilots died, do you think that they would have been able to put more money and training into the pilots so it didn't happen once they were fully service ready? A few dead in the interest of a larger goal is nothing. Look at Iraq (probably not the best reference, but one that you might have in inkling of an idea about) and ask why apart from the slowing world economy, a dictator that had a couple of weapons that the U.S could have quite easily destroyed and some chemical elements, was it invaded?
By marcwallace 1169895566 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeits due to the fact that someone at bell has some money going to someone else in the military who just doesnt know when to quit....maybe we really do need 21,500 more cv-22's in iraq
By trail 1169165412 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou are right, I saw few films about this thing. and its true that this piece of junk is impractical and there is nothing good from him ...
