Safest table saw ever built
that he doesn't have his own, that he has to buy one from someone else.
By Durhamntx 1196352303take a hammer to the teeth. every thing is gone, bones included
By Ashtonsantiago 1169255470somethin like dat was invented! this would save many people's career and livelihood. Great invention!
By psyched 1168784715like this tool, wait until i show this at work
it would really save some fingers and a lot of mony for my boss haha
Having once had to scramble to get medical attention for a kid who'd fed her fingers to a table saw, I can't recommend this highly enough. (The kid retained her fingers and some sensation and use, but the injury was severe, and I never want to go through something like that again.) Great idea, and the industry should make it standard.
By Boy Willie 1168749258No, it´s a joke. Great tool!
By hvpareja 1168811322Even though it's an advertisement, it also has the advantage of being informative.
By rickyk2 1168747112it'd be fun to play around with, but the cartridges are about 80 bucks a pop. so not worth shoving a hotdog in unless for promotional purposes i guess.
By magicrapp 1172028304If its safe why the hell did he try it with a sausage and not with his hand??? anybody???
By cerastes 1170943225i stand correctly if i say that he doesn˙t dare to change that weener 4 a thumb.
By Jah.Glory 1170326497whats the fun of having a power tool, when theres no risk of injury?
All those people that make vids of slicing fingers will have too much time on their hands (like me)
Cool invention tho
LEARN TO USE A SAW!!! As a paramedic I am so tired of taking dumbasses to the hospital because they got their fingers too closs to the blade of a table saw!! I can see if you are injured from a piece of wood kicking back or even if it is a circular saw and it kicks back but DAMN people use common sense and KEEP YOU FINGERS AWAY FROM THE BLADE!!!! If the wood is to small to give you room to slide it through safely with your hands then use a damn push stick!! I learned the basic safety of table saws in school..
By HotMaleFirefighter 1169759901If its terminal for the brakes every time. How much do the aluminium brakes cost and what if you want to cut sausages?
By Chilli2007 1169596396Just thing when the joker down the street buys one... wonder how many of his fingers will he have to cut of before he realizes I broke the spring on his saw LOL
By tigerfish 1169460332if its soo good y didnt he try it with his finger, he used a sosage haha his scared
By bossman J 1169155391I have been a wood working for most of my life. I have even lost 1/8 of an inch of bone from one of my fingers because of it.
Well it is amazing how the tec. has changed. This will safe fingers and people lives who depend on their fingers to make a living.
wow, that could really make a difference.. probably very expensive though..
By Jabulon 1168985617Well, each time that happens, you'll have to replace the aluminum brake...Not to good when you need to keep working, no?
By Naounmai 1168909348don't fingers cost more!
I think the cost is worth it in the long run.
yep, say all my nine fingers lol (liked the reply, Dragon_Lady) ;)
By Naounmai 1169245497He is trying to ge the government to pass a law saying all new saws have to have this technology which of course he owns the patent on.
So, while it's cool and all, forcing it on companies will just jack up prices.
If he thinks people will want it, market a saw with it and see if it sells. It might, might not.
my grandfather had one 10 years ago when he chopped off few of his fingers. Not good.
I hope they all start using this safety feature... it looks safe...
I would like one of these....no I wouldnt use it..... I would just dare my friends to touch it lol :P
By Blakelyneal 1168869118the machine will cost a fortune ,and if the human body absorbs the electricity, think of a wet wooden plank you cut ,you have to dispose of the aluminum pad and the cutting blade
By costelnicolaie 1168860802I've examined this saw and the professional version is less than 25% more and it has a superior mechanism disconting the blade feature. The saw has a bypass so that you can cut aluminum, treated wood, ect. Wood even wet wood conducts current differntly than the body and the computer monitors the drain through wood many times a second. so if you were to pass through a section of more wet wood the computer compensates up to a point.
The blade stopping mecannism cost about 79 bucks and you need to replace the blade Not the hand.
It will not activate if the saw is not running, and it is no more expensive for other saws of it's quality. They are working on a less expensive model version as well.
To replace the breaker after it saves your finger costs about 60 bucks, and it does have an override key if you want to cut conductive material such as aluminum foil coated foam or something like that.
But how much does a finger or hand cost?
See more video of it at SawStop.com
why don't they use a real finger to test if this really works?
this might be stupid question
he said human body absorb the electric and that cause the blade to stop
but isn't most carpanter wear gloves when they are handling saw and stuffs
so what if those gloves messed up the electric charge and didn't stop the blade or make it go faster???
the blade would cut through the glove and into your skin and then will stop it looks good this system i wanna try one
By dj fat boy 1169149850there is a continious current running the motor. the pouer of the motor is irrelevant to the one of the blade
I keep seeing posts all over the net about the saw tripping when it comes in contact with damp or "wet wood" It's Bull! For the saw to trip the wood has to have a moisture content of above 45%. This saw is Awesome!
By shipmate 1168798832but doesn't anyone else think, if your finger got caught under one of the teeth when the blade gets pulled under it would cause injury? I think it would be safer if it stopped and rotated backwards a lil slowly and didn't go under the table.
Really nice. Why didn't anyone discover this before. After so many handiceps.Cool.
By NuNe 1168784997Impressive, could save a few fingers, and a few rednecks from the Darwin Awards.
By wd9ufo 1168782081I've used power tools for many years and have yet to be hurt beyond nicks and scratches.
By squiggly 1168754050it seems that the brake or whatever one could call (the aluminum thing that stops the saw) seems to be destroyed. So i am guessing that the brake would need replacement. wonder if its expensive. a small price to pay for safety
By /?\\\\ 1168744067the only way that the break will engage is if you stick your hand on the blade while it's running... sure you'll be injuried a little bit.. maybe a scratch.. but you should not loose any member... so... beyond that... who cares how much a brake cost if it just saved you a hand?????????
By heinekennnn 1168745286But will it stop of you stick a woody in there?
By Wasted Time 1168737453talkabout dulling the teeth on the saw wreck ur blade with that thing, usless.
By brankobruda 1169284475I'd rather spend $100 dollars on new saw blades than thousands of dollars for new fingers or even risk the possibility of not having fingers.
By Cpl. Chronic 1171512646People who cut their body parts on any kind of saw are people who deserve to!
By suckitandsee 1168820215surely a slightly damp block of wood would still transfer some of the electric charge and cause the brake to operate?
By steveoplymouth 1168781369A Blessed Invention to Mankind, where lives and bodies are valued. May God bless the work of your hands.
By roam77 1168766696What about false alarms? What happens when your trying to cut a damp piece of lumber? - 1 brake and sawblade?
By atomizer 1168764655so thats the kind of sawblades the magicians have always been using?
By Kai Robert 1168723114...I've been a carpenter most of my life...one question, what happens when the electrical contacts get fouled with sawdust?
By vincelopez 1168710839Since, the casing of the contacts will most likely have a IP-rating so high that dust wont get into the inside of it.
