All things aside...
The actual time taken, counting ONLY the time Mario could be controlled (Ergo, only the time where the clock ticked down), and ignoring the speed code (As we're counting by in-game seconds here, which were also sped up), the total time taken was 8 minutes and 2 seconds.

Approximately.

Add in about 4-6 seconds per level transition, and also add in the fact that had he not been using an invincibility cheat (IOEOIO?) and would have had a game over probably before even reaching world 8, and would have had several game overs in world 8. He just got sloppy there.
