Which Is Better?

Google Earth is the clear winner, much easier to navigate and far more seamless.

For another option give NASA World Wind a look. While the user interface is not as good it has an amazing amount of information available in different layers and views.

The only thing this movie shows is the detail of two famous American landmarks.

What about the overall coverage of the world?
What about the connection speed?
What about 3D maps?

Google earth is definately the best even the images are years ago. I came from a small city called Ipoh but I can still see my area very clearly through GE. I can see nothing with VE. Also my Mrs came from a very small town and I still can pin point her house very clearly with GE. VE s..ks beeg time

Virtual Earth uses airial photography the view is much better than Google's, certainly over Scotland

If any u guys want to check it out...Virtual Earth's view over Edinburgh is around 3 years older than the view over my town Falkirk.....e.g. the site at Holyrood where the new Scottish Parliament now proudly sits.The view over my house is at least 2 years old.

Light years ahead of a simple digital photo! Earth is seen from sat pictures. AND, the most part of the earth IS available to view... etc., etc.

Google Earth is alot more user friendly and you can see your own house on google earth, on virtual earth I'm sure it's only got close up photos of landmarks and not everything unlike google earht which does

but is that virtual earth empire state photo taken from a helicopter or something like that? i mean sure, there are even better pictures of it than that! also, its something special with owning a digital version of the globe.. kinda like the best globus ever! wich always will beat a collection of pictures

Does anyone know if there a version available that you can download for free?
I already did that but those versions worked only a bit.
Like if i zoomed in, it became unsharp and unclear...

Virtual Earth is crappy, you can't view certain part of the world like area 51 or other military bases.
Whereas Google allow it.
Anyway Google started it first and its alway been a good company so this will be a vote for "Google Earth"

I agree that google earth is better but, i have found the search engine very lame. for example niagra falls - no results, the pyramids of egypt or the sphinx - no results and Canaima national park home of the angel falls Venezuela, google earth puts this in Brazil. So from my experience it could be made much better. It is not like these places are unheard of, and when you do find them manually they are marked on the map, so why then are they not in the search engine?? am i doing something wrong??

if you want to see empire state building just find a photo on the web. This test is not representative of the other 510 million square kilometers of Earth

I understand here are three versions of Google Earth avalable! The first one is free and is what 90% of the viewers have. Next you can purchase a version for about $30 a month and you can make out people on the grond clearly about 2% have this one. And last for about $400 a month you can see a scar on a person face and its in real time! In other words its happining as you watch! 8% of the bad people have this one!

more like a street map with a few attached photos. Google earth is an actual virtual earth created in a seemless constant view. Google gets more points for just being cool.
