You can do it with
the clone tool. You can also replicate more complex backgrounds as well. Have a look:

Much easier and quicker
using the clone stamp tool. Plus it doesn't matter what the background is.

  well - what is obvious for you doesn't have to be obvious for anyone, even if you think so. There are many people with 0 Photoshop experience. Otherwise I agree that the hard is to find a background - that's why I chose this easy example, it should be an illustration of the (as I stated in the desc. ) >simple< principle .

  How would you do this with a tree background or a classroom background? If no square inch block was the same as another square inch block you would have to do something creative.
  This simplicity would NOT work on something with a varying background.
