This sub-station transformer suffered an internal short-circuit and the protection devices didn't operate. Large transformers are filled with oil, hence the large ones fire once the transformer enclosures split. Obviously this shouldn't happen.

- Wrong, oil does explode.
  When oil is heated to hundreds of degrees it burns just like gasoline.

- Just in case you do not know
  PCB`s were outlawed years ago as a toxic Substance, Hence they have been replaced with something else over the past 15 years or so... Just do not remember the name of the liquid that replaced it... Figured you would like to know the truth...

- i sorry but just new transformer are fre...
  ALL OLD transformer are left oem, it too costly to change them all. half of the time when "playing" it like that, is too damaged and need full change. and also, pcb are toxic only when it burn.
