Clean Skies News reports that Mercury pollution from coal-fueled power plants is on the rise in Michigan, Illinois and Texas while emissions from all US power plants declined on average by 4 percent. Also, Clean Skies News has learned that Consumers Energy has been given the go ahead to build a 958-megawatt coal-fired plant in Bay County, Michigan. Bob McCann with the state's DEQ tells Clean Skies News the plant could take three older coal plants offline, which could result in an 87% decrease in mercury pollution. And, Argonne National Laboratory is working on an omnivorous engine. One that will run on any alcohol based fuel.
