By Jakamali 1169577762 Reply Spam [+9] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhy did you tell us about the other purpose most people would have never thought of doing that now everyone is going to make one to see through people's cloths
Every picture I take is going to be intentional, so they will be intended purposes. If you meant immoral purposes, well that may be what I'm intending to do.

By Ninja-Maverick 1175904147 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehi all if you dont or dont want to use negative you can open and old flopy drive the circle that llook like negative paper do the same job oh and it work on cell too just tape it over the eye but it will be all red so put it in sepia and for that seethrough thing dont get your hope too high it work only on some material mostly slim synthetic and black have beter result and when it work it a really small seetrought your not going to get full naked picture of that cuti at the bus stop....oh and if you succed getting a shot and what more normal color use the negative filter in photoshop well have fun
By tecknomancer 1215001636 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI'm confused why paint everything black. Painting it black will increase it's emissivity. That mean the camera will register to it's heat. delta Q=S*e*(sigma)*T^4. You should use something that does filter ir but has low emissivity. Some glass.

how do u make it see through clothes on a pretty new casio exlim

By sb123 1169944268 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebut every time I try to make one it doesnt work. they just turn out black. And is this handheld or is it supposed to fit on the end of the lens. Not trying to sound bad.. I just really want it to work.. and what kind of cardboard are you talking about?
By jake11beast 1169940217 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeim wondering... anyone who tried this, and had good results, what camera did you use?
And it's here on Metacafe:

How to transform a standard webcam into an infrared cam
When I did this the pics came out with a purple tent. I think it may have something to do with the white balance on the camera or the fact that I taped the negatives dirrectally onto the camera. (mabye my balck negatives are purple somehow). Anyways any idea how to fix this>?
By TheHalo2 1169787350 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTape on the Film for temp useage.
By TheHalo2 1169705893 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI verified that my Kodak V603 was IR sensitive. I took a different approach to making the filter. I used a perscription pill bottle, cut in half, with a hole in the bottom part cut out the size of a quarter. I placed 2 pieces of black film inside. The bottle fits snuggly over the second, non-moving lens portion.
I'm sad to say I got no pictures. First, 2 pieces of film is too much, one piece barely gets a picture. The best settings for any type of image I could manage were: 1.8MP, 800 ISO, 2.0 exposure, Open Shade white balance. The picture was still red and I could barely see 5 feet away. It is night time however, but I don't expect different results in the morning.
I don't see anything other than reflected light when photographing myself.
Perhaps there is an IR filtering lens in my camera, but one thing's for sure.....this didn't work. But thanks anyway you made me watch like 5 times.
What kind of plastic are you talking about?
See-through or just and hard plastic?

By DocBlues22 1169626422 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removevery nice vid. I would suggest maybe getting better lighting when filming, some of the shots while creating the filter looked pretty dark and overall color has alittle too much red hue. maybe use a desk lamp or something to boost the overall light level when filming.
anyway, good luck on producer reward. I'm sure you will be sporting a new and a much nicer camara soon:)
What kind of camera did you use, or suggest?
By ...Derek 1169595211 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIR and X-rays are not one and the same. Nevertheless, a good idea :)
By Saavik256 1169585158 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removea majority of digital cameras, while still picking up a certain area of an IR spectrum, contain an IR blocking filter. Removing it, however, does void warranty. (It is usually located in the lens assembly.
By Saavik256 1169585458 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhat a good idea? thanks for it.lol
By skipjacktuna 1169562837 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI doubt you can use this filter to see through clothing anyway. I would think that you also need an infrared light emitter, just like how the Sony handycams (w/ nightshot) work.
By ipwnyou 1169556623 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI think the idea is that if you use it in bright sunlight, the sun will emit enough IR for it to work
By epocsodielak 1176702085 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI made one and am just trying it out... I added two layers of film instead of just one with the idea that it would filter out more visible light and the same amount of IR light (?). I tried twinkling the remote again through the filter and then comparing the channels in the resulting picture. Seems like my camera's blue channel is most sensitive to IR light. So you could probably get the best results by taking the blue channel and turning it to grayscale. I am waiting for some bright sunlight to see if it actually works.

By KemiraX 1169829631 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJust because the film shifts the color content of light getting through doesn't make it an infrared filter! Since when is X-Ray the same as IR? The video doesn't show any IR video, gee I wonder why?
I actually did it, I went through all the effort. I took out the IR filter in my lens, I adjusted the whites in every possible configuration. I built the whole silly, shitty little filter device and guess what.
It doesn't take fucking x-rays. It only makes colors look like negatives.
So I ask, WHY THE HELL, would you make it when all you have to do is take a NORMAL picture and just convert it to negative on any simple software program. All I had to do is us MS paint and save myself the trouble.
You suck.
You can take the picture and process it by photoshop. It will give the same results in less time.
