Mini Volcano -The Ammonium Dichromate Experiment

An interesting variant of this experiment can be achieved by igniting a magnesium strip protruding from the center of the pile of dichromate.

I had a big vile of Ammonium Dichromate that I got in 5th grade for a volcano project I did for the class. It's really cool and fun to play with, but not really the best for kids. The neat thing I thought was that it really looks like volcano, and puts off 4 times the ammount of ash.

it doesnt matter if its poisonous, my chem teacher had the supplies and we tried it in class, all you have to do is not breathe in the gas that is created

k... I took chem last year... and I'm no expert but I do believe if you burn Ammonium Dichromate the gasses given off aren't too healthy
