The prompt radiation from a fission weapon of this type and yield does not actually travel very far, the majority gets absorbed by the air heating it to tens of thousands of degrees creating the fireball. There is of course some lethal short range radiation, but if you were close enough to be injured by it, the blast and heat would have turned you to charred meat anyway.

One of the original guys spoke at my college a few years back.. Perfectly fine. Was at the explosion of several including one that he was only 1 1/2 miles away in a ditch with some marines. Had several kids and grandkids.. no defects. But it is awesome you speak of something you know nothing about.. keep spreading ignorance!
