    what you all seem to have missed is that the f1 is a car you could drive from London to your Monaco apartment with two passengers on board at 200 mph. No breakdowns, no noise, no back ache, no fumes. the comprison is all in the fact that you cannot compare a Skyline (tuned or stock) to an F1.

  • This is not very fair

    A mclaren pushes out 680 hp because it has 2 turbos ... the skyline on stock pushes out only 280 horsepower ... when skylines are modified they can push over 1400 hp ... a skyline with about 650 horsepower will destroy a mclaren just like the mclaren destroyed this skyline in the video ... and ive seen videos of skylines with 1000 hp doing 0 - 100 kph in 2.6 seconds which is 1 second faster then a mclaren ... so yea you get the point ... the skyline in half the mclarens price could be made much faster then the twice priced mclaren :D but the about being rare and unique thats different.

      McLaren F1 is the fastest and the only supercar that really really belongs in it's category. Even a McLaren F1 built in 1997 can't be beaten by nowadays supercars... Don't even imagine what a latest model of McLaren F1 can do now...:P. Plus, Do ya all know that only under 100 units of these cars exists in this planet???

      @ Dudik: The McLaren F1 is not turbo-charged at all. That's what makes this car an amazing piece of engineering. The engine was developed by BMW just for that supercar.

      It's an interesting comparison and doesn't claim to be objective, obviously. Just impressive what 1.8 kg/hp do to the dynamic of a car.

      just the shape of the skyline's body makes it slower becouse of its high air resistance.The Mclaren f1 is alot more aerodinamic and slides though air easier.It is also alot lighter, this improves the power to weight ratio.And that my friend, makes the Mclaren F1 a winner.

    Claimed a top speed of 231 MPH, (I think). If some one could find the data from their magazine and back me up on that it would be nice. You should be able to find it in just about any recent issue's data table towards the back of the magazine.

    stock skyline gtr engines push out 330 BHP...not 280, like the gentlemans agreement said it should. many dyno results from skylines right out of the shop have shown this.

    course the F1 won, its lighter and has almost twice as much power lol. still a nice vid though.

      No it's not! In 1991 when the McLaren F1 was first built, Formula 1 cars were running 3.5l engine, which got reduced in 1995 to 3l. When production of the McLaren F1 ended in 1998, Formula 1 cars were still running 3l engines. Oh, and BMW engine only debuted in Formula in 2001, 3 years after the McLaren F1 ended production!!!
