The modern carnaval started in Rio de Janeiro in the beginning of 19th century, under influence of the french tendences. In Pernambuco, the fun starts before the carnaval itself, to be exact on "antique recife" - traditional historic site -, in Recife as well, on the heights of Olinda, all the way arround this two cities.

Brazillian carnaval it's also a great call in Bahia, Espirito Santo, Florianopolis, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Norte, Manaus and Sao Paulo.

This video shows the carnaval in brazil to the world, there are some scenes of traditional music, dance, art and carnaval native culture.
