As long as the croc is well fed...
...he'll be safe, but there is a hunger threshold that goes beyond any faint primordial debts of gratitude the croc may harbour for him, in other words if the croc gets hungry enough it's primordial reptilian instincts will overide it's sense of any vestigial limbic affection and the guy WILL be killed and eaten, no doubt about it in my opinion.

Crocodiles live by instinct alone
When something near them moves instinct tells them to move towards it because it might be food, you can't domesticate an animal thats been here for millions of years, it looks like this croc just wasn't hungry, I have seen plenty of videos where people thought it was a pet and ended up paying a high price, eventually it will turn on him, you can't undo hard wired instinct.

There was a croc hero and couple months back he became croc shit..

"Mr Steve Irwin, 44, died after being struck in the chest by the stingray's barb while he was filming a documentary in Queensland's Great Barrier Reef.

Paramedics from Cairns rushed to the scene but were unable to save him.

Mr Irwin was known for his television show The Crocodile Hunter and his work with native Australian wildlife.

Police in Queensland confirmed the death and said his family had been notified. Mr Irwin was married with two young children."

If the crocodile was full grown at the time it wouldn't be friendly. but because it said he captured and helped it a young age the corc is unsure who is a threat to him and over time after the person takes care of it, it will grow to think the person is its mother
