What do you mean by "old technologies"? I swear, some of you people are so ignorant it makes me sick. If you're suggesting that tanks are obsolete, that's been disproven by Gulf War II. Have you heard of canister rounds? That will shred any infantry stupid enough to fire an RPG at an Abrams. The MPAT round has also been developed. It can destroy helicopters that try to attack the Abrams.

These tanks are perfect for taking on large groups of infantry, any vehicles, fortified enemy positions, machine gunners, snipers hiding in buildings, enemy infrastructure, ect...

RPG interception, before the RPG impacts the armour. They already have trials of this. AND add the invisibility technology, which they are working on, and, there you've updated the tank!

That's just ignorant. What's your source? As far as I know, the only conventional air weapon capable of defeating the Abrams is the Hellfire missile.

almost any air missile could take out that tank...the armor on top is shitty.

Most anti-tank weapons are ineffective agaist the Abrams, but the Abrams has never used reactive armor in combat. Although some has been developed (see Tank Urban Survival Kit)

It is not very hard to take out a tank...1 air missile does the job.

Have these anti-tank weapons been tested against the Abrams's armor? It's considerably better than the armor on even the newest Chinese tanks.

The Abrams does not move 60mhp. With its 1500hp turbine it could be capable of 90mph but there track would not hold together at either of those speeds. It is governed a little less then 45....for a 67ton piece of death dealing armor, that is hauling ass. As far as being able to take a hit, I was a little dissappointed. I seen an AP RPG penitrate the #1skirt and into hull stopping in the fuelcell. That other guy is right about the M1 not using reacitve armor in theater. Reactive armor is nothing new and there is plenty of technology to defeat it. However it would be a good thing against RPG's. Nothing is invinsible, but I can say with some knowledge that the abrams still has about the best armor out there as far as MBT's go. I got out in 2008 with 4ID (first ones to get the SEP in 02) During last tour I heard rumors that 1stCAV was suppose to be field testing the next up graded version. Bringing back the M2 operation from inside the turret, with a better system this time. I imagine it will be simular to the CROW (fucking awsome) Additional armor ( smart reactive) and a missle/rocket interceptor that will but the russains version to shame. Some people think that 65+ton battle tanks are a thing of the past. For our current fronts, they maynot be Ideal (although at times lifesavers) When you look at the very possible conflicts with Iran, N.Korea, Russia and maybe someday China, a Hightech, hard hitt'n beast of a tank is what will be used.
