The lizard
looks to me like a Savanagh Monitor. They do eat meat, but it is live food they perfer not chcuks of something dead stuck to a kids forehead. They enjoy mice and small rats. This one was about half grown. It does seem to be fairly worked up and nervous as well.

  Not to nitpick, but it's a black-throated monitor.. Closely related to the sav though. ;)
  
  I noticed someone on the other end of the contestants pocking at its tail and legs to get it to run. I very much doubt it noticed the food at all.

  I was paying more attention to the critter than the meat.
  I used to have one, intresting pets to say the least. Alos they tend to be one-person animals like most reptiles and large birds.
