Cool animation showing how a cloud of gas turns into a starfield. Animations by Matthew Bate at the University of Exeter.
If the gas gets closer together, would the gas law PV=nRT imply that the pressure increases, meaning that the gas particles would simply be pushed back apart?
How does a gas cloud collapse into a solid?
As mass builds up there's a larger distortion of gravity causing things to be pulled towards the object.

By kessiahcutemomaf 1191393365This shows that the person who made the animation had a vivid imagination and was skilled with a paint program....nothing more. A person can doodle with a mouse and say "this is how a star forms" but that is not science. It is a cartoon. We have never seen a single star form otherwise we would not be watching an animation, we would be watching a real video.
By Young_earth_guy 1176333426I forgot to include the link to Matthew Bate's site. It's http://www.astro.ex.ac.uk/people/mbate/Cluster/index.html
i
f you want to go and take a look at the calculations he is performing. It's more of a computer simulation than a sketch animation. The comment that we have never seen a star formed is entirely accurate...because the process takes billions of years. That's like saying we've never seen the tectonic plates move, or the evolution of a species. Some things just take too long to ever train a video camera on them.
It's really hard to comprehend how the particles interact, but the vid gives an excellent illustration.
