Las Fallas in Valencia has got to be the most craziest festival I have ever been to in Spain. It is a five day fiesta that celebrates fire and fireworks. Huge wooden sculptues are built at road junctions all over the centre of the city. They are crafted by neighborhood organisations and take about six months to construct (and often cost upwards of US$75,000). Many are several stories tall and need to be moved into position with cranes. At the weekend, they are filled with fireworks and set alight. Then there are multiple firework displays all over the city lasting for hours, and by the end, you are deaf :-)
