Is not about Arabs, or Yanks, or Brits, or Aussies. They are making fun of the tendency of some news agencies (Fox) to run a crawl translating whatever is being said. I've seen them do it with native speakers from their own country. (Although, there was this one Cockney cabbie in London who kept up a running commentary halfway across the city. I never understood a word he said, just tried to be polite. Later, he showed up at my hotel with a goat...but that's another story.)

Then you won't be offended, and we won't have to listen to your endless whines about how you are being picked on, and your endless threats about how bad you're going to F**k everybody else up, and what a wonderful 2 x 4 island you had build with everything imported from the rocks to the workers. You could all sit around and kiss each other. You could even write in your own language. You wouldn't have to listen to us laugh and we wouldn't have to listen to you. sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Was similar to what the Python gang would have been doing though they would have had the decency to wait 30 or 40 yrs until after the war to take the piss out of people. I do agree that some of the terrorists etc out there are probably well educated people and probably can and do speak fluent english. Be aware not paranoid. Not all peoples from the middle east etc are our enemies.

True this is funny, but more importantly, is there anyone out there who hasn't had the priviledge of "inside information" that actually perceived these Rebels/Terrorists as someone who not only speak fluent english, with a pretty good vocabulary, and fully understand English, as possibly "well educated, and sophisticated" members of any society.? In my little sheltered life, I just thought the Terrorists that lived among us prior to 9/11 were exceptions to the rule and had to be absolutely nuts to do what they did...Are these examples also the ones who could be responsible for the beheadings of Americans and other Nationals from other Countries including their own???Could they also be those who did the "dirty work" for Sadaam even against their own Countrymen? Lest we forget........Don't!!!!!

If we really wanted to go to war, every time a suicide bomber, roadside bomb or any other aggression against the USA or our friends occurs, we should nuke/ or level a major Muslim city starting with Mecca. They seem to be in such a hurry to get to those virgins, let's help 'em out. We could end this business in a month if we really had the fortitude and courage to do it. Politics and compassion have no place in real war.

Heard the joke (in either French or Flemish) 30 years ago in Belgium, so don't presume it has anything to do with the current conflicts. If I had just taken Spanish instead of 5 years of French, I'd be a lot better off where I'm living - then I'd only have to learn Tewa (SW American Indian pueblos)

Very funny, indeed! Classic British humour! Anybody who says it's offensive etc etc really need to get a sense of humour and chill out. We live in a democracy, and a comedy loving one at that. It's a comedy sketch, nothing more - nothing less. It's not poking fun, it's not insulting, it has no political motive. It's a comedy sketch based on a writer's own sense of humour. I for one was against the Iraqi war and I think Saddam Hussein should be released, but this sketch is very, very funny! Don't let ignorance blind your judgement and humour for crying out loud. A society where comedy is forbidden incase it "offends" is the kind of society these terrorists want us to live in. We will never give up our rights, our freedoms, our liberties, and comedy should be exempt from liberal nonsense by cretins who sit around all day complaining about comedy sketches.

This may be a comedy sketch, but I've seen dozens of instances of subtitles on US "news" shows that come into Canada on cable. The same interviews when shown on Canadian news programs didn't have subtitles.

The same thing has happened in other countries I've been to: the BBC doesn't need subtitles, the US's "AFN" (American Fasc^H^H^H^H Forces Network) does have them.

so, she could remove the subtitle and let the man finish his words. by the way , why has he an indian accent?

Obviously has nothing to do with politics but it is funny. As forethaught, most countries American's and Canadians went to war with all had soldiers that don't want annything to do with that war and are forced to fight annyways. When rich and powerfull men have the power to feed or starve a nation, to execute a familly at will for refusal to fight, even causing the genocide of a nation living in that country. What else can you do? Thats what a dictatorship is about. Unfortunatly, to liberate those people you have to get to that dictator and to do that you have to deal with the mostly innocent people protecting him. Just sad, sad dirty business.
