NTFS gets fragmented just as FAT. Although NTFS does get fragmented less then FAT. This thanks due to the Master File Table.

Just startup Disk Defragmenter and klik on 'Analyze'. See those red stripes? Those parts are fragmented.

  It's checking for errors then defragments your hard drive, making it faster as there's no gaps, or "fragmants."

most of comp with win xp installed have ntfs (file system)...It's totally useless to defragment a ntfs hdd...
