this looks like something from war of the worlds. lightening is going off outside of the plane at around 35,000 feet. the pilot didnt say anything, maybe he thought it would freak other people out. music: thunderstruck-ac/dc
as an air traffic controller I can say that the plane isn't within 20 miles of the nearest lightning strike. pilots avoid thunderstorms by a large margin. lighting does go cloud to cloud, and has struck planes before. usually it passes right through the plane with little disruption using the plane only as a better conductor then air as the bolt seeks the ground.
worse case senario does happen, usually an EMP caused by the lighting strike will cause a very brief drop out of a few electrical systems. but damage is minimized by the grounding of the AC. yes grounding... thats what the little 6 inch wires you can see protruding out the back of the wing on most airliners
The Movie isn't for being close to it it's that you can see it and you are level with the lightning. I bet you don't even do anything in the airport
By Jezra 1197398776Because he was freaking out to ground control about the controls on his plane not working..
nice shot of lightning... looked gold to me... anyone know what kind of lightning this is?
