Sean Conklin of www.InfiniteGuitar.com playing a guitar rendition of Bach's "Toccata and Fugue". Everything you hear was recorded during filming. At the end of the song, you'll hear multiple guitar harmonies. This was accomplished using a sampler pedal. Enjoy! More»
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone! You guys are too kind. :) I also appreciate the constructive criticism of those who didn't like it. Everybody has different tastes, and that's totally cool.
Take care!
Sean

By ioseidan 1172519782 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis piece is difficult enough on harpsichord or organ. I am amazed that you are able to play this on electric guitar which I would not have thought possible if I had not heard it. It can stand some improvements but I think overall you did an excellent job. J. S. Bach would be proud. Proof that the classics are where it's at. Understand how the masters did it and any music is at your command.
By Grivantian 1171925264 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI was truly impressed with the modulation to avoid the fact that the guitar's range simply doesn't cover as many octaves as a pipe organ.
Great work!
this is the first video that i will ever save.very nice.although im into punk i really appreciate the talent.i can never do this stuff.all i know are power chords.keep on playing

By bobdaalex 1174413538 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHis pacing is a little quick in the beginning, which I found to be a womewhat unusual interpretation, but as he moved through the piece, I could see why he made that choice. The classical guitar, with it's thinner sound, tends to make this most famous baroque work sound light and sprightly, as opposed to the pipe organ more traditionally used. His fingers are nimble and true, his instrument is beautifully tuned, and the lighter sound works so well to replace the melodramtic horror movie pictures many of carry in our heads when this piece is played. Refreshing, joyful, even playful are only a few of the words I could use to rhapsodize about this most excellent performance.

By R.I.P_Dimebag 1172017576 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt sounded like 10 different pieces. It's understandable though, thats how you have to break these things down to practice them and it's a bad habit my many great musicians.. Just work on blending together each portion of the piece so it sounds like 1. My teacher used to express to me that you need to find the correct ammount of breath between each segment. That is all.

By ND4SPD 1171959354 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removenot the best version, (you video should say extract from "Tocatta & Fugue") I play the piece in piano & organ, and my favorite version played in another istrument is the one done by Maxim Vengerov in Violin, who plays teh whole piece, and all the voices in it in one solo violin, also you should keep the pace of the original piece since it is, after all, one of J. S. Bach caracteristics.
By, hey!!! That's just what I think...
Keep playing,
Look up Malmsteen.
Hey thanks for the honest feedback. Yeah I'm very familiar with Malmsteen. He's one of my favorites.
The timing wasn't supposed to be the same as the original, but I understand if it isn't everyone's cup of tea. :)

I guess trying to cover all the changes in pitch gets harder as you continue throughout the song - hence the second guitar coming into play.
But damn. Keep up the good work. We need a rebirth of the classical movements. Even if it's on neocon instruments.
Hey thanks man! Yeah, as I just updated in the video details, the guitars coming in at the end were looped live while I was playing. I just used a nifty sampler pedal.
