  • kalium (potassium) chlorate

is contained in a lot of weed killers. alternative it is sodium (natrium) chlorate. mix it with sugar and it burns with anice, hot yellow flame. if you put it in a closed container and ignite it it blows the container apart - a bomb! therefore, since the 9/11 events, i expect it has been taken off the shelves in the US of A.

the way it resists shattering with this level of thermal differential is mind blowing.

I will use it alone in my beermaking processes for now on....

  • Candy vs Carrots

Throw in some carrots and apples and see how long they burn too.... would of been interesting..

    By Shetan 1172030959
  • Actually...

I hate to be a bore but candy doesn't actually make kids hyper, it was proved the other week on the telly in a controlled scientific experiment. Its the environment that the kids are in that make them hyper... Nice vid though!

    By the-sheriff 1171994116
    • Apparently

You've never seen a kid who just ate a bag of candy...

      By Joeblowfromidaho 1172044540
    • I have...

but it depends on where and when they are eating the candy, normally its a treat, so the enviroment will be different. Put them in a quiet room by themselves with some toys and candy, they won't go hyper. Then again it was proved scientifically. Its not my opinion, its a fact.

      By the-sheriff 1172052773
  • lol

does it work for fatty products? Because it does take longer for fat to burn than carbs

    By someidiot213 1171953787
  • what?

what was the substance inside the tube?

    By ManuelMansilla 1171938803

What liquid are you putting the candy into.

    By demonce 1171904290
  • What is that solution?

Hydrochloric acid? Must be pretty strong one ^^

Perhaps one day some physicians can work out cold fusion, just feed our cars with Mars bars and we are going to the Moon.

what do you think, from what cancer come from, from somethin like this sh*t which you eat

    By bonooz 1172840368
  • Sooo....

How exactly does this demonstrate an ammount of 'energy' being burned? Sorry, I'm no chemist but I know enough to recognize a real scientific experiment when I see one. Just cause you have a test tube and some pottasium chlorate doesnt make this any proof whatsoever that the length of time a gummi bear and m&m burn has anything to do with kids being hyper because of candy. There is actually little scientific evidance that supports sugar being the source of children being hyper.

    By toothbrush 1172007781
    • ....

He was asking "Ever wonder why kids are hyperactive?" a question, in no way does it relate to the experiment, it was like a lead in for you to watch the video to see which would last longer...the gummie bear or the 3 m&m's.
