I LOVE THIS GAME

Lets improve all sports: We will start with Basketball and raise the rim to 12', Lets take kicking out of American football and call it Handball, lets remove the pads from hockey players and while we are at it we will make the Soccer goals only about 6' tall and 6' wide...hear how dumb it all sounds. Evolution says that even at 12' NBA players will still learn to dunk. 300lbs linemen are running 4.3 40's, and snowboarders are jumping 30-40' in air and not dying when they hit the ground. Just sit back and injoy the sport the way it's played.

that is ridiculous the reason these guys can dunk so well is because they r the greatest athletes in the game all that a 12 foot hoop would do is mess up everyones shot. and any normal baller would tell u that dunks r the best thing about the game why do u think the nba top 10 consists mostly of dunks because thats what the people wanna c , most people who wanna raise the height are just people who r too small to dunk and jealous of people like me who can dunk.

This is why the hoop needs to be raised to 12'. Make it a team-sport again instead of a showcase for some guy that can jump. But nooo, that wouldn't make enough money for the owners/ players... People like to see jackasses showing off by themselves...

This isn't a game of basketball, this is a dunking competition. They couldn't pull half of these off if there were any defenders in the way. This is supposed to be them SHOWING OFF, that's the whole point.

And okay, if you raised it to 12', christ people, are you serious about everyone still being able to dunk? Very few people could dunk if it was raised that high; 12 feet would be insane. And besides, it has nothing to do with "evolution" because you have no idea what you're talking about. Evolution takes millions of years, genius. It has nothing to do with snowboarders or lineman. Football players are bigger because of ever-increasing training techniques and the foods we eat and steroids and equipment, not because of evolution.

And dunking isn't even selfish---that's like saying a layup is selfish. In many instances dunking is better than a layup because it can reduce the chance of getting a shot blocked, and is more of a sure thing (if a player knows how to dunk right)---and when they do show off, so what? It's not hurting the game---it only builds the excitement.
