This is the making and firing of a Gauss Rifle that I built for a research project. The final result shoots a 7/16" chrome bearing at 19m/s

i had to rank him five for effert, its a great idea but took ages and he could have shoot some one that would have made the painfully long video worth while

i'll shoot myself with it, and some other stuff... it doesn't really hurt that bad because the ball is round... i still have it. i'll add it to the other video,

  • You will want to script the project...

And do a dry run first, should help improve your videos in the future. 5 for effort, 2 for painfully long sections of reworking the "rifle" while the camera was still rolling...

  • I wonder

How does the # of "chambers" relate to the resulting speed of the projectile?

By TacticalChaos 1179082398 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • actually

i did a loong research paper on how the distance between each "chamber" changes the speed, but before that I had experimented on how many. the more you have increases the speed, but once you get it to a certain speed it takes many more to increase it the same amount (logarithmic increase)

  • Paaainfullly Loooong

Could be a great video, but does he have to show every repeated step?? I mean we get the idea after the first time. This video should be 2 mins, not 12. Cut the redundancy!!!

    • well...

actually I have a two minute video of me just shooting it, but there were people who wanted to see the entire construction of the thing.

    • Saw that...

You have to understand that I am indeed interested in the construction of the rifle, not just the end result. But it just becomes tedious watching the repetition of identical steps, such as attaching all of the magnets, and placing all of the bearings etc. I'm not trying to be negatively critical, but the attention span and patience of the average person is not twelve minutes long. The subject matter is great, but your video would most likely get better ratings if you edited the redundancy out of it.

    • So what you're trying to say is.....

      ZZZ ...ZZZ ...ZZZ ...Snore.....

I agree. It may have been a fun project for him, but even fast-forwarding thru the video, I still got bored.
