these girls are actresses... There are 2 cards BRANDY... The first one is prepared before the trick and then there is the second one when she writes her name on. he rips up the first one and the second one is on top of the deck (There is a card control trick to get the 2 of spades on top) and when she opens the top card it's actually her card there.

There wasn't any duplicate card....it was a force,u see wen he adds da card to the deck,he covers his hand over da deck so that we dnt see da force......he does it so fast that we wouldn't see it.....if u dnt blive me,search for this video"card trick exposed"the guy will show u how da force is done......u'll no wat i mean

He does not know the womans name or anything like that so there is no Duplicated card in the deck at the beginning.. when he cuts the cards and tell s her to put her card in there, his right hand is empty so shes actually putting the card on top. Now here is when the duplicate comes in. There is a break in video between :50 and :55 .. He has a buddy who sees the card (because obviously the camera man sees the card). While blaine has the womans attention on his obvious trick, The buddy duplicates the card and gives to blaine.(Probably during break).. Its a buddy system . Just like cris angel has shown how he uses in buddy in the disappering napkin .. Same thing except david blaine breaks between videos to fool tv viewers even more.

Obviously as mentioned, he already duplicated the card; hence, there was another card with her name on it beside the one she wrote. He placed such card at the bottom of the deck.
When he told her to put her card in the middle, he actually pretended to have cards on his right hand but his right hand was empty. You can obviously spot it if checked carefully. Therefore, her card was on the top.
Then, when he flipped out the card, he did not flip the first one, but the bottom one, which was the card he duplicated.
You can see that her name on it is different than what she wrote. One easy difference is that the name on the fake card was shifted more to the middle.
After he teared the fake card up and folded it, he pretended to pass the card to his left hand, but instead it stayed on his right.
Finally, the real card, which is always on top, stayed on top when she flipped

az161 is right. The card that he tore was different to the one she had. It was a sleight to hold out the original but the torn one was a different card.

Analysis, you're partially right. It isn't on top but you've got the idea.

This is why I love watching magic in videos. Because from these things, you can pause, slow mo, etc, and figure out how it's done. I've just learnt how it's done just by watching.

and it leaves you talking about it. that's what really counts in magic.

I think I get the first trick. The girl is in the plot, and she has to put the card back into the middle of the deck, but instead she puts it on top, and acts really suprised... It's quite easy actually.

it was still really cool. He even fooled the chicks in the video. You can tell by their reaction, they were more surprised at what they just saw than the "spectators" that are around when Chris Angel walks through a wall or something.
