more than just fancy trick shots
in contrast to the obtuse and insulting drivel i've read reagarding this fella's skill, i offer a different perspective. doubtless it took many hours of disciplined practice and dedication to reach such an accomplished level of play. but beyond the esoteric, a great deal can be learned and appreciated by even the most dull among us. this young man has an incredible battery of talents at his disposal. agility, timing, judgement, finesse, presti digitation, depth perception, and a keen, inate understanding of the principles of geometry and trigonometry. those who have seen fit to ridicule this fellow expose themselves for the peevish tripe they are. so ask yourself. would i rather be that good at something that demonstrates a miriad of aptitude, or would i rather sit around, spanking the monkey to bad internet porn, maligning the talents of others? terrific! no words longer than 15 letters allowed. i leave it to you then to join "presti" and "digitation" above. go figure.

I can make most of these trick shots myself, and of all the comments on this page, the comment below from psykoyow titled "pretty good" had it right. Some of these shots are set up shots that require little or no skill. Some require at least a good stroke... which you don't develop except after many, many hours of dedicated practice. Some were just lucky chots that he captured on film after filming many, many tries at these trick shots. When I say I can make these shots, you must understand, I've also been playing pool competitively for over 20 years. I'm no "on TV pro" pool player, but I can play better than 99% of the people I run into. So... in case you care about MY humble opnion... Some of the shots took skill... some were all in the set-up... some wer lucky variations on known trick shots... BUT I could teach most DECENT pool players how to do any of the shots shown on this video in just a few minutes. The true test of pool skill comes in playing the game... not a bunch of trick shots.

If you love something, you do it whenever possible. These shots are do able, if you think it's fake then ask yourself, if you could do your favourite thing any given amount of time a day for the rest of your life, how good would you be?

For one thing, trick shots are not all about setup. There were some really good shots in there that take a lot more than just setting them up. However, there were several that were "merely" set up shots, the butterfly for instance. In a couple of the shots, he didn't mean for some of the things to happen that did. For instance, on the "draw around the rack shot" where all the balls were pocketed in the far corners - PURE LUCK! But man it looks good when it works like that. That's one of the perks of shooting artistic, sometimes it works ...sometimes it works GREAT!
