Sending 250,000 multi-coloured 'superballs' bouncing down the streets of San Francisco may seem the strangest way to do this, but that's exactly what Danish director Nicolai Fuglsig did for the Sony BRAVIA commercial in July this year. San Franciscans have seen some unusual things in their time, but even this gave them something to talk about. And we've got the feeling that this commercial is going to do exactly the same thing.
Even though it's a great video, not so much credit for the Director and Producers as this has been done before, on the same street only a block further up: Does anyone remember Dave Letterman rolling basketballs, watermelons and other objects down Filbert St about 7-8 years ago? Besides, when was the last time you saw a frog on Russian Hill?
This is the thing that makes me take pause. A deep pause. I listened tonight to someone very dear to me whose heart was breaking - not just cracking but breaking like a plaster wall after 17 years of weather and wind. My point: she is and she will have a terrible time of it-and it is my warmest hope that everything falls down as it should. OK, actually my point: I gave her this web address to make her feel more real - connected -pure; like the bag in the bag floating on the wind in American Beauty.
Both it and this video have reminded to stop. To stop and listen. To stop and listen for the static, the things we never notice but have the most meaning; the artifacts giving proof to why we are all here.
You are welcome to submit your comments about why technically this vid doesn't work, why the frog doesn't get squished by the superballs, why everything looks too digitized. Go ahead and speculate-that is what reasonable people do. The same people also have the capability to turn down the electric knifes, and to let everything just be what it is. A pure and rare beauty.
What a beautilful film - It's so simple - but so incredibly beautiful.
By honey-link-us 1155419891Good job, looks real kewl,I wonder how much it cost to produce for T.V.

I don't understand why peoplewant to complian about things like this. It was a very nice video to watch and I agree the music was cool. I will buy the album.
By Boyo 1140388419did you see the drive way at 1min 30 secs? is there even a point in having a garage?
By r1ccardo 1135844579Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez; great album, bought it this week ; )
By fatfrankIII 1134836403the original version of the song is by a band called The Knife, Jose only covered it. But both version are good, allthough very different. Check out the original.
By Natas77 1143931105does anyone know the name of the song that is used in this commercial ..?(A)
By thelma 1134831003This movie is also in polish tv. I like very much a moment wuth frog :)
By PolishGirl 1133722739It is a very creative film and I like where the filming concentrated on certain balls for a period of time, n that frog was awesome but yeah I felt bad for it lol The dog was sooo cute! I do however shutter somewhat at the thought, I hope no animals choked on a ball in the following time after filming... They better have cleaned them up!
By SCEC 1133622497This Ad is in germany too.
I like it a lot.
As Im on a Movie Academy, I realy have to say that the Director made a great Job.
Chill out! Do you really think the city payed for this??
Yeah.. Im sure San Fransisco would be happy to pay for Sony`s ads... Idiot!Wonderful ad and a great idea!
Keep up the good work Nicolai!
lol
thats a good tv, uses HDMI< high defintition ...bla blala
I live a block from the street they used (Filbert Street). They shut the neighborhood down for a few blocks to do this (last summer), so no people. The security folks gave my daughter a couple of the balls.
By localguy 1133588806which balls, were they in the film? can u watch through and said
aaaand ...
iiiitsss ...
THAT one
hehe
i can imagine those balls could gather a bit of spead, lots of broken windows?
that was certainly different, not didn't think it would be advertising a tv
By DistantHunter 1132789952I really liked the dog that was up on the ledge watching them all go down the hill. He probably couldn't choose which one to chase!!!
By Puck90a 1132621196It's not Veneer dipshit ! If your trying to help people out with finding the music they want. At least give m the right song. If you don't know wtf you're talking bout. Then just don't talk at all !!!!
By shadow713 1143898120i really liked the song they used on this advert, if anyone knows what the song is called, or even the band who did it, i'd like to know. Thanks

I *adore* this video! Kudos to the director and Sony for pulling this off.
By Gibbeon 1132572535Wonder who paid for the clean - up and damage. Where are all the people?
By Scooter Trash 1132497581Sony paid for the clean up and all the people were notified and cleared out of the area.
By lol098 1167808586I was just wondering IF they really used real balls, who cleaned up the mess?
By Omari 1132397201Mind blowing , awesome imagination and superb creativity.
Thumbs up!!!
I liked the frog too I hope he didn't get squished by any of those balls!
By karikatzie 1133566678Why do people keep asking about who cleaned up the balls afterwards?? THEY probably did....they probably have people they hired to help them clean up, and maybe the neighborhood clean up a bit around their porches and such. Why is this such a big deal?
By hoop 1133815661I heard that they really did drop a quarter of a million rubber balls downs the hills in a neighborhood in SanFran. My question is this: Why the hell could they not do this through computer graphics (CG). Hec, a good portion of the shots look like CG anyways. Many of the shots looked fake anyways!!!
Why tie up the neighborhood and tie up traffic ?? Just do it with CG......
although it was very different and I have never seen anything like it....that really is a waste of time and effort and bouncy rubber balls. This is thinking TOO big for something not so big. His big thinking would do better for the need of the world.
By msmaryx 1133595435business, banking, wall street "x" job? I thought you watched tv, movies, read books or listened to music too. Or do you live only off money and technology.
Think of all the bad things you could change in the world with 250,000 super balls!
