Gosh here I have been listening to the consensus opinion of thousands of the world's top climate scientists when I should have been listening to a guy who posts his climate treatise in between videos of skateboard falls, girl fights, and infrared farts!

Nice try, but not all the ice is free floating as in your example. Now do it again with the ice in the glass and some ice suspended above the water line (as in reality) and you will see a increase.

Melting Icebergs == Not a threat (as your example shows)

But given the environmental havoc we are creating on the planet, it doesn't seem like to far of a leap to say we are having an impact on the warming issue. It's like a house. 1- Just because the sea levels don't rise, doesn't mean there isn't global warming.

2- The water level stays the same because the ice is exactly the same weight and consistency as when it's melted.

It's proportions, dudes. Let's assume the temperature rises so that the 'landmass ice' melted. Proportionately, the temperature would also have to be warmer enough to cause more water to evaporate and be kept in vapor form. So again, it balances out and would not cause the sea levels to rise.

Not unless the 'water cycle' we learned in grade school suddenly developed a sentient mind of its own and became selective over how it affects the water--being warm enough to melt additional water but not also being proportionately warm enough to keep more water in vapor form.

Arquimedes principle: when some volume is introduced inside a liquid, the volume of the liquid will raise. In your case: you're marking the sea level with the ice inside. try and put the ice outside de glass and, when melting, the volume of the water in the glass will raise as much as if you had put th ices inside. Glaciers, ice over Antartida, and a big part of Atartica (I mean, the part over the sea level, not the one uder it) are what, when melting, will cause sea level rasing

Your problem is that the ice that is melting is not yet in floating in the water. Take your experiment measure the water line and then holdin the ice over the water see how much higher your water line is after the ice melts into the glass not as it melts in the glass

Difference is that most of the ice that will melt is ontop and outside of the water so logically the level will increase. In the video most of the ice is submerged in the water.

Water is one of the few molecules that becomes organized in such a way that the solid is less dense than the liquid...If you paid any attention in 3rd grade science or have ever froze a drink then let it thaw it's volume is considerably lesser in liquid form.

What you've done is false because you,ve added ice cubes that are a part of the water, but is these ice cubes were mountains that are over the sea level which are not a part from the water and melted, the water level will increase thik about it and comment if i am wrong

Even if the whole glaciers are melting, the sea level will rise a few centimeters. But the global warming its not about sea level only. Think of living with 80 Celsius degrees outside. Can you make it?

So what this person has demonstrated is that when chunks of ice fall into water, the water level rises. They have essentially shown that flooding will occur because the water level was lower before the ice was put in the glass. New ice/snow is going to break off and fall into the water and that will raise sea level just as the ice did in the glass. On behalf of all who are on the other side of the argument about global warming, thank you for proving our point.

The level of the water in the glass depends on the volume of the ice that is "already Inside" the water...

But the polar ice is not only inside the sea...but on the earth as well...the volume of the polar ice is not added to the one of the sea....when it will melt it will add an extra volume...

Note, salt water (i.e. the oceans) has a higher density that fresh water. Archimedes principle states that a floating body will displace the same mass (not volume) of fluid in which it is floating. If the fluid is denser than the floating body, less fluid will be displaced (level of fluid) than if the fluid was less dense, like fresh water.

So proportionally speaking as soon as the volume of ice (fresh water) is melted it will take up more space than the volume of salt (denser) water that it had displaced to float. So the rise in the water level would be proportional to the relative densities of salt water vs fresh water (as in melted ice).

when the ice caps will melt the sea level wont rise a lot it will be spread equally over the sea's but when the land based ice caps will begin to melt the sea level will rise but not that much its not like whole lands or parts will be under water the sea will just come on land a few feet further

You forgot something. The south polar ice-cap isn't floating on the water, it residues on a big rocky continent, so this is true only for the north ice-cap.

The science channel has a great show on ALL the FACTORS that causes global warming...Global Warming-what you need to know..was the name i believe. As others have stated..it is MANY facors... even the temp of the ocean rising 1 degree causes a 'chain reaction' in our weather. I highly recommend the show above ;-)

try to think of a cup with no water in it, an filled with icecubes, that ice represent the water above sealevel.. quess what will happen when the ice melts!!

Ice is bigger than water, but about 1/10 of the icecube is above the water and does not affect the "sealevel" but when it welts it all goes into the water, but the masse gets smaller and then qualize the xtra ice

the polar ice caps will never fully melt anyway. Just because we are currently in a warming trend, (which happens every thousand years or so as ice layers drilled in the ice caps show) the average Earth temperatures swing like a pendulum. We are on the upswing, and sometime later, we will start the downswing, and scientists will be whining about another ice age.

The Earth contains a finite supply of water. No matter how much crud you throw at water, it is purified when it evaporates. Everyone knows water evaporates when it is hotter, and form again as rain, snow, moisture, clouds, and dew.

If the Earth warms up for whatever reason, ice melts and more water is available for evaporation, the Eart will cool itself in the form of more clouds, less sun, and eventually more rain a snow. It is a perefectly designed living system designed by a perfect creator.

its not the water level people are worried about, its the water temperature. When the ice caps start to melt, the cold water will flow into the warmer water disrupting the ocean currents. This could then possible change the climate because the ocean currents are a big part of the earths temperature, winds, clouds etc

Please use a less complicated model next time. We aren't all scientists with an expertise in "climate change" like Destiny.
