Many critics argue that the ossuaries did not belong to Jesus, Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene because the names on them were so common. The filmmaker of The Lost Tomb of Jesus (as seen on Discovery Channel) uses mathematical probability to explain why the ossuary he uncovered is in fact the tomb of the Holy Family.
See the movie on Discovery Channel and Vision TV. The Lost Tomb of Jesus takes you on a journey through time back to the life of Jesus, Mary Mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Join Simcha Jacobovici as he unravels one of the oldest mysteries of the Christian religion, the quest for the tomb of Jesus. A tomb is found but with other bone boxes inside. This captivating movie is produced by award-winning documentary filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici and co-produced by James Cameron. This is a multi-generational tomb, used over 2 or 3 generations, so it isn't 80 to 100 thousand, the number is much more. Inscriptions like this are very hard to read, and there is debate over whether the name Jesus is on any of them at all. He doesn't mention any of this. And all the human remains were reburied in 1980 when the tomb was discovered/

But no DNA test were performed on Mary, the month or Judah, the supposed son, to determine that they were, in fact, kin to Jesus. So, why were those obvious test not performed? Or, were they but results did not fit the theory. Same with James brother of Jesus. James' box not in the same family tomb. But authors try to link James to Jesus not through DNA but through sampling the patina on the boxes. They used scientific data but was weak. Did not use it in a persuasive way at all.
