Fastest denotes top speed. The 67 cobra didn't have a huge top speed. it didn't even top 200 The Charger Daytona DID and it did it with a 4 speed manual imagine either car with a keisler 6 spd tranny tho! especially if ya huffed em!

You hear a whistle and say its a turbo. Actually the car its supercharged and whistle sound its a common sound of supercharged cars at high rpm right before shifting its needed.

Building a car like this takes a bit more that displacement and boost. In this country, there are perhaps 1000 or more such vehicles racing on 1/4 mile track across the USA. For the price of one Bugatti you could build about 10 of these purpose built vehicles. Car and Driver wasn't even allowed to take the bugatti through the slalom's because it handles like super tanker.
All it takes to make huge power is displacement and octane. This car seems to have both. hypothetically this car has 4.6 liters. if they're running 30 psi, it would be like having 13.8 liters! (15psi doubles liters, 30 triples) if it's engine is also intercooled, using avgas AND water/methane injection, It could easily make 1300 hp. I'd hate to have to pay for all that though! Very expensive!!!!!

Now, I have had a few bikes with NOS and Turbos, never a car.
I have had a couple of bikes dyno'ed too... Obviously not quite in the 1000hp league, but there you go.
I would like to make one small point... While I have seen a dyno in action, I dont know bugger all about the technical side of it... All I know is, that I get gary ( owner of the shop ) to do his magic and I need my bikes to do a sub 12sec standing 1/4.
But, I have to also add one thing about a couple of the posts here, but those back wheels turn... They turn pretty fucking fast too, and If you cant see it then you are fuckign stupid, or blind
Also, NOS does not make a sound... The engine can make a sound when you turn the NOS on, but this is only revs...
That whistling sound is a turbo.
Anyone with half an ounce of common sense will know this.. As does my 8 year old son who showed me this very video earlier on today.

by the way is not supercharged u could tell if it was supercharged as u would hear the pullies.its either got a single turbo set up or a twin turbo set up and the flames is to reduce any bac pressure that may over load the wastegate to cut out and course boost spiking looks like they hav cut the exuast of at the front pipe just off the dump pipe boost spiking is more prone in big horsepower cars so its always safe to get rid off any restriction or extra flow that will cause back pressure.u cant fake a dyno u fucn idiots and that chart at the end would be quite accurate as ive seen many other mustangs reach that hp.by the way naturaly bigger heavier cars rnt good on the track thats why they run massive ammounts of power threw them cos their a straight line car not a turning car dah.

You can see the rear wheel spinning if you watch closely, and the way the car lifts up is right on... that's proper rear arm angle for a drag car, you set it for anti-dive in the rear to resist the massive longitudinal torque you generate at power - so when you're tied down and the car tries to squat, it actually lifts itself. Mustangs are traditionally a drag car in the 90s, although in the late 60s and early 70s they were awesome track cars - the Boss 302 lapped the entire field in its first race. Still, I drive a 360 hp '96 GT on the track and do just fine against BMW 330ci's, RX-8's and such... I've just had to do a crap load of modifications to the suspension, undercarriage, subframes, frame, driveshaft, crankshaft, intake, computer, etc. Of course, my car cost a whole lot less money than those European track-purpose cars, but took a lot more work to make it competitive. The later Mustangs are definitely track-capable. Mustant teams in Grand-Am Cup win regularly against BMW M3s, Porsche 996s, Nissan 350Zs, Mazda RX-8s, and Cadillac CTS-Vs, and the 2005 GT from Multimatic Motorsports won the series this year - so it's definitely a track car if you don't mind getting dirty to make some conversion - it just will be crap out of the box like most other American sports cars. Still, I love mine on the track for the head-snapping torque I get off the corners. I bet this car would have snapped my head back a bit harder, though :-D I'd like to know what the supercharger was on this, and also what in the hell the flames were at the bottom... did they not have any pipes on the car past the headers to reduce back-pressure? *P.S. The super-high whine is from saturation of the small microphone they are using on the camcorder... so many decibels and such range of frequency overload the circuit and it just puts out a constant tone... the initial whine is from the supercharger. I've recorded video in an M3 Cup car with a camcorder and the same thing happened.

to know alot about racing cars, so I'm a little shocked at your asking about the flames from under the car when he backed off the engine. We'll in a car setuyp like this one he is runnung more than likly a Roller Cam with a large degree overlap, what you are seeing is when yoou take the rpm's up the can goes into its forward advance and when ne let off it takes time for the cam timing to retard back so the fire is the excess fuel being burned away as the valves are not fully closed on either the intake or exhaust ports causing the burn away to happen out the exhaust pipes, or in the case the dumped header.

...I was just surprised that they were running headers with no damn pipes... nice way to coat the underside of your car with soot and melt a wire that didn't have nomex wrapping. Even pro drag cars run their pipes out away from the engine to the rocker panel, to avoid just that. In road racing, you have to have pipes that terminate behind the driver, so you see flame all the time with the aggressively -timed cams, but they aren't in the engine bay! (well, sometimes you see that too, but it's usually accompanied by drivers jumping out of the car as fast as possible)
