This is the wreck that took Greg Moore's life.
you are a complete idiot
You can't possibly be sane and call someone's death funny,
he may have died in a way I wish nobody to die in but at least he did what he loved doing until the end and even though I don't have a clue who he was, I’m a bit too young to have known him in 99, he deserves respect...
Go and read further down what he achieved before dying in that accident only at the age of 24, an age you will soon reach.
Now do me a favour and on your 24th birthday think that he has died at that age and see what you think of yourself.
I know the guy (or girl, we never know) this message is intended to will never read it but anyway, I wanted to say what was on my mind...
I was strongly following CART back then, and the sad thing about this crash is. Greg and gotten into an accident while riding his scooter in the paddock area on the Saturday before the race. He ended up breaking his right hand because of this.
But since it was his last race for the Players team he got a cast placed on his hand and a dougnut placed on his steering wheel so he could turn the wheel. Since the venue was California motor speed way, which is superspeedway oval there would not have been so much turning involved so he raced anyway.
Whether or not that was the cause of the accident is undetermined. He was coming out of turn 2 and the car lost control and shot straight into the infield. That crash and Zanardi's crash are the two worst I have ever seen.
What excatly killed the driver?
Was it Head Trauma after hitting the tyre wall or was it form the amount of G-force his body took?
RIP Greg
not formula 1
it's USA CART(Champcar) race
i thought f1 cars were very strong but ater that im not so sure
By plokijuy 1143283700 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is NOT Formula One... This was CART, or CHAMP CAR racing... F1 is completely different... The cars are incredibly safe... This was an accident that NO ONE would have survived in ANY race series... RIP, Greg.. You are missed...
ICT
the guy dies, and you can't even credit the rigth racing series. he died in champ cars
Where the hell is the driver? i dont see anyone driving this car. Was he thrown from the cockpit before the clip starts? The Gilles Villeneuve Fatal F1 crash is a hell of alot worse than this
By solo187 1140997518 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removegreg was still in the car. In Slo-mo you can see his helmet and the car flipped upside-down. Of course by that time he was already dead.
By steveward3928 1230357360 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhat do you mean Villeneuve's crash was "worse"? They both got killed...
By Guynextfloor 1160447366 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI wonder at what point?
By dancetothemusic 1136859450 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf the guy walked away unhurt, everybody would've raved about how awesome, great, fantastic, blah-blah-blah the crash was. How does the fact that he died change any of the spectator value of the crash?
By copyright 1136485793 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removespectator value of the crash?" - by copyright
- You just answered your own question.
:(
By PeterDuck 1133682645 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI'm from Australia, so I've never heard of Greg...but it is very sad.
RIP
Sorry, but it's not a F1 car; well a CART-Indy.
But it's terrible, Oh my God.

By nasik_lemak78 1132642376 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBeing Canadian myself, I followed Greg's successes from his very inception into CART from Indy Lites. I saw him race at Indy, Michigan and Toronto many times and was watching with my son that fateful halloween day in '99. A
damn shame on so many different levels. But to set the record straight he was with the Players Forsyth team when it happened, although it was the last race of the year and he had signed on to go to Team Penske the following year with Gil DeFerran; he was bound for glory on that team (Helio Castronevez wound up replacing Greg there and went on to win two Indy 500's). Greg never raced in F-1.
Greg Moore was a great race car driver. I saw him run at Indy during the IROC series. He drove in the CART series mainly though.
GREAT DRIVER!!
It was a sad day when Greg Moore was killed. The wall that he hit is well off the racing surface, I was watching the race on TV when this happened. He went off the track and slid across the grass quite a distance before hitting that inner wall. I do not belive Greg ever ran a Formula 1 car in his career, I'm pretty sure he went through the Go-Kart, Formula 1600 series,USAC Formula 2000, Indy Lites, and then Indy cars, no F1 ever.
By Tank Murphy 1132589286 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWHAT A TRAGEDY TO LOSE HIS LIFE SO YOUNG , BUT I GUESS HE LEFT THIS WORLD DOING THE ONE THING HE LOVED SO MUCH...GOD BLESS U GREG MOORE...RIP
By gypsie 1132572150 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhy would any one put up a concrete wall at a right angle in a race way so as its just waiting for some to come along and kill themself, seems management should be given a RAH RAH for this blunder
By Lady K 1132576519 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemovePoor guy......but this is not Formula 1, is it?
By Cachi 1132436944 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveEven though Greg Moore did race some Formula 1 races, he mainly raced the IRL circut(Indy Racing League). This wreck was in one of Roger Penski's Indy cars at Fontana, Ca on Oct 31st, 1999. He was 24 years old.
By Rowdycat2 1132441929 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is completely wrong on both counts. Greg Moore raced in ChampCar (NOT the IRL) and he never raced - or even took part in - Formula One.

By SWylie 1132633246 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei think anyone who compares deaths and accidents to which one is better or worse is completely stupid. any accident if someone dies theyre all the same. i dont know much about greg moore i just found this site looking for information for a biography.. but from what ive learned greg was way to young to have lost his life. although he died doing something that he loved. i saw this video and its crazy. my brother races and i couldnt imagine what greg's family , friends, and everyone who knew him had to go through. to see that car fall into so many pieces is insane. just to think of being there makes you cringe. so anyone who wants to rate accidents and tragedies are complete idiots.
By P2 1148744471 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCan't believe I found people actually finding this entertaining. Greg's death, and many others like it, while "part of our sport" should hardly be shown as a small clippet where people don't fully understand what happened.
As for the ONLY IN AMERICA comment, I think the fellow was referring to someone saying HA HA HILARIOUS, as opposed to chastizing Americans sports, etc. It was in reference to someone's ill-placed comment on the video.
1st. This is not f1 it is INDY CART
2nd. that accident is horrible and i think that should notbe posted because the dude is not even in the cockpit and i wonder how a little kid would react if they saw it?
Eh ah oh . parents: Know what your kids are looking at on the internet. because somebody cannot control their kid doesn't mean we (adults) cannot see these videos.
By steveward3928 1230351646 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeplease don't post any sick videos like that where we assists to somebody's death... thx
By touyets 1135302508 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTired of people coming into sites like these and comlaining asking people not to post "sick videos". you punched the keys on the keyboard. Do not watch it..you can tell what it is going to be about. Better yet, stay on at disney.com. this is real life. these drivers knew the risks.
By steveward3928 1230351426 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhy the hell would u show ppl that. Little kids could just have seen his death. And he didnt drive an F1.
