this is actually a very simple light show just a unique idea of where to put it, I do FX light and sound for raves. if you want to do it yourself theres a bunch of companies that make the equipment, lightronics, Strand, Martin, AMDJ to name a few, all you need to get is the controller board or software (preferably dmx512 compatable), 5 to 10 4ch dimmer packs, and the cables, a martin light jocky system makes it very easy since it has a show creator simulator.

We went there after Christmas dinner in Cincy. Very disappointed we did not get to see this awesome display in person. He could not play it because of all the scrooges with unlit houses in the neighborhood. He's a genius! Hope he comes up with a grander one next year. Bah humbug to the neighbors!

This is so much like the concert. If anyone gets the chance to see TSO live. Do so. "Wizards in Winter" is their opening song. You can buy the CD just about anywhere. I'm surprised that the news magazine channels have not done a feature story about TSO. These guys rule. I'm very impressed with the light display. I myself put up between 15,000 and 30,000 every year.

Quite well, now, since he voluntarily shut down the display due to excessive traffic (emergency vehicles responding to a minor traffic accident couldn't get through). He always said that he would cooperate with the Warren County sheriff if things got problematic. Since it was broadcast over a low power FM channel. noise from the display's music really wasn't a problem unless someone in their car really cranked it up. I'm trying to catch the display on the new Miller Lite commercial on ESPN this morning. Funny, I do the same thing during the Super Bowl, ignore the show and only watch for the advertising!

There is a way to tell that this is real.
Watch to the immediate left of the house through the entire video; there is a radio tower in the background and you can see the light flashing on it. It is flashing at regular intervals... not pasted there like some put-together still-motion movie. This is the real deal.
Another reason why I'm positive that this is real is that my aunt lives near this guy. She's seen it with her own eyes; that's how we first found out about it. She saw it first-person, found this, and emailed it to us then called us later about it.

I think the guy is amazing! It's very sad he has to stop the lights. What a wonderul display! He was on the news last night out here in Seattle area. The Transiberian Orchestra flew him to a concert! Saw this on CBS news on Sky TV in UK last night and just had to view the video. I have never seen anything like it - 26,000 light and all computer controlled - unbelievable. Sorry that it has had to be shut down this year. Bureaucracy gone mad - where has the spirit of Christmas gone. The video certainly makes me smile. worry about a whole lot of people enjoying the season, experiencing and seeing something that perhaps they have not seen the likes of before and just marveling at someone's talents and already planning how they can do something like that next year?
Seems like for a temporary time, some caution pylons might could be put up with a slow flow of traffic just for the season and the police can go catch some rapist or murderer or something and let everyone else enjoy the holiday season!

Don't come down on the police for asking Mr. Williams to take this down and stop showing it. It caused a number of traffic accidents because of the slow moving due to the excessive viewing of the lights. Its not just slowing traffic down its causing accidents. Of course, I admire Mr. Williams' house, its amazing and I enjoy watching this clip over and over again, as well as watching the Miller Lite commercial, but don't post things about the police when you dont even know what you're talking about. This display got itself a spot on NBC's "Today" with Matt Lauer. The man responsible for this is a guy named Carson Williams of Mason, Ohio. An engineer, he started setting up the lights just after Halloween. The show runs between 6-10 p.m. The sound runs by an f.m. transmitter so the neighbors don't get disturbed so much by the music and passerbyers (there are many) can catch the music on their radio. This story can be seen on MSN video probably over the next few days. It's really a very interesting story.

Yes! I saw it last night. It is in full color - nicer then the video. The "piano line" part spells out "Happy Holidays." If I had a camera, I would have taken a higher quality video of it for the web. I talked with Mr. William's wife - very nice lady - and she said it took him about 2 months to do Wizards using "Light-O-Rama." The funny part is that there are few if any other lights in his entire neighborhood! Neighborhood kids were going from car to car selling "World's Best" chocolate bars for their school. A lady got out of her car and came up to my car window and said, "I see you're from Kentucky" and told me about yet another great display about a mile down the road (and it WAS). Nice folks. Good chocolate. Fun evening. :-)

My son had told us about this house a few days ago. He had said that his teacher had shown the class, and they were in total amazement by what this person had done. I have since then watched it at least 5 times and just showed it to my husband, who himself is in total AWE!!!! I only wish I was able to do something like that!! The music is Wizards in Winter by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. If you have never seen one of their shows and you liked this, you should go!!! A TSO show has a ton of lighting effects with lasers, flashing lights, and pyrotechnics along with awesome music. I wonder if the owner of this house is the light or sound guy for TSO???? It is almost too close to what you see at one of their concerts. This is amazing!!!

I am going to set a lighting display like this up next year and do not care how many of my neighbors I piss off in the process--the power company will love me-- I will keep that meter spinning so fast--it might come clear off from its' axis..So what? This is a really great Christmas light display!!! I am into electronics, and regularly work with the Programmable logic controls similar to what sequences the lights. One thing...I would REALLY like to see what his electric meter does during the show!!! I remember the movie "Christmas Vacation", and the antics of Clark Griswold, and how his wouldn't light until someone opened a door to where the fusebox is, and turned on a switch. It was then that the electric plant went on full alert, and the lights in the neighborhood went down & back up!!! I guess that only happens in movies....or does it?????

This is some of the best pairing of lights and music I have seen. I would love to meet this person and see the display in person. I agree with another writer that it is too bad that Rockefeller Square doesn't have something this good. Maybe they should hire this guy to set this up for them.

The guy lives in Mason Ohio, it included 16000 lights and this was 2004's show. It was originally posted on Planet Christmas. Snopes.com has a radio interview with him and he describes how he put together the whole show and what is in store for this year.

I'm in the "I love it" crowd. Been a die-hard Light-Looker" all my life. My mom used to pile me into the car and we'd drive all over Burbank, Sun Valley, Sunland, CA, etc, light-looking. I hope I can do the same someday. EXCELLENT!

This guy should receive some sort of an award. This is the best house lighting and video I've ever seen. I'm seriously thinking about doing something similar next year. I live in Vermont and we've got lots of trees around our property. I'm also a musician and composer so I'm thinking about writing my own music for the event. My imagination is flowing like a river right now. Maybe you'll see my house next year.

First of all it's real. Second, I think the lights display is amazing and whoever thought it up has a great and creative mind. The song is Wizards in Winter by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It's on one of their CDs called "The Lost Christmas Eve." If you haven't heard them before, then I strongly recomend that you go one of their CDs or just go listen to their music. It's awsome trust me. I recently went to their concert in VA and it was incredible! I have all of their CDs and love every one of them. But anyways, GREAT job on the lights. And I think whoever did this should be proud of themselves for putting on a wonderful display. To all of you Scrooges who obviously aren't in the Christmas spirit either get in it or go live somewhere where they don't have it.

I also found out the guys name on the local news here tonight. Googled him and found his address. It was only 1-1/2 miles from our home. My wife and I went. The music is playing on 96.6 FM. You can pretty much only hear it in front of his house. He has three songs programmed. The other two songs are the Charlie Brown Christmas Theme and God Bless the USA. It was about a 1/2 hour wait in line in your car. The show will run from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM now through January 1st.

I'm pretty sure this is the same guy. He used to live one neighborhood over from mine and he did alot of TranSiberian Orchestra stuff and traditional stuff as well. He had a schedule and the music was transmitted to your FM radio in your car for less than a block. The music also played at the house, but it wasn't very loud for the neighbors' sake. Needless to say, he won Best Decorated House in the County that year. Last I heard he had moved to N.C. Too bad.

Hopefully if this guy/girl took the time to entertain his community this way he would have the respect to keep the music relatively low, and shut it down between 9 & 10. I would love to see more if he does it to more songs. Where is this place. They need to get this on TV. The guy should sell a half hour show to a TV station!
