  • So sad

I felt so very sad when Concorde was taken out of service. I don't really understand why - must have not been making profits any more. Supersonic travel had a very short-lived history. It was always my ambition to fly on Concorde, London to New York, sadly that dream was unfulfilled. A brilliant Anglo-French piece of engineering.

    • The Reason

the Concorde was taken out of service was that the planes had outlived their life expectancy. These planes were built with a 25 year life probability. They flew for over 30 years long surpassing thier intended use. After the 1st and only crash of a Concorde on July 25th,2000 the resulting investigations revealed major metal stresses and design flaws that ended up in the eventual grounding of this plane with it's last flight in Oct 2004.

they did a round the world once and the entire rudder fell off and they didn't even know until they landing for refueling in Sydney, great plane, used to fly over my house on takeoff and landing at very low altitude when it operated out of Dulles. VERY LOUD.

  • Awesome Airplane!

You Could Leave London In The Morning, Fly Down To Egypt, Take the Tour Of The Pyramids, and still, be back home in time for dinner. I Would Have Loved To Have Done, The Mile High Club on That Baby! Actually, a Bit Higher Than a Mile.

  • Concord

Was the only transatlantic supersonic aircraft to fly from London to New York in just over 3 hours. It had the best history of crashes other than Quantus (which still to date has none). It was taken out of service for one reason only, and that was that the mayor of New York forbad the plane due to its extensive noise pollution.

  • BEAUTIFUL BIRD

What an achievement for the British and French aviation authorities. And for our next tricks. . . .The Ariane 5 space rocket and the Airbus 380 joint-ventures. Well done chaps!

  • very nice piece of machine

I was saving miles on my US Airways miles for 125,000 miles you can
get on the Concorde for the New York to London route; anyway it ended
    due to techanical difficulties.
Well, now I have to watch this clip over and over again to imagine myself
    being on that plane.
Hopefully, someday there will a better one built and we all can ride on it.
