The picture may look like a mushroom cloud, but it is actually a can filled with hydrogen exploding. The can is fired into the ceiling. This demonstration still needs just a little improvement in the area of safety (but it looks really cool). The Problem-The partial pressure of hydrogen drops as the gas escapes and is replaced with air. This causes the reaction to be an explosion insead of a flame. Hydrogen is a tempermental element like that.

cuz that was cool man ,the time i saw this experiment the teacher did it with a littel test tube and u can only hear its sound someting like a pop it really sucked

All science teachers are twisted...
...or that's what my kids say. They think I'm nuts to put my bare hand into liquid nitrogen and scoop some out on the floor. I think it's fun.

better suggestion
use rubber balloon and fill in pure hydrogen, it's much safer than using metal can that can cause fragment wound
